About This Game

Build explosive attacks from a deck of evolving cards in this roguelike shooter about paint, chaos, and scaling destruction.

In Palette: Cards & Chaos, you play as a water spirit with a giant paintbrush, fighting through a shifting labyrinth full of danger. This top-down shooter blends fast-paced combat with a unique deckbuilding system: collect cards that represent brushstrokes and colors, then stack them to create powerful and unpredictable paintings of destruction.

Each run is a chance to build something new. Will you decimate enemies with swift brushstrokes, or launch a storm of paint projectiles? The choices are endless.

Features

Deckbuilding Meets Action
Build your attacks by combining cards during each run. Find creative combos that change how you fight.

Procedurally Generated Dungeons
Explore a maze that’s different every time. New layouts, enemies, and surprises with every run.

Paint-Based Abilities
Use your brush to attack, block, and change the battlefield. Your abilities are as creative as you make them.

Endless Scaling Chaos
The deeper you go, the wilder it gets. Stack exponentially scaling cards to survive an endless labyrinth that pushes your builds to the breaking point.

It's a cute little game with a lot of potential, I did have a good time with it even if I did manage to 100% it in 40-50 minutes or so. Personally I think multishot is too powerful, repeat cards are also too powerful, A better idea would be to only allow 1 repeat card in a hand, or perhaps instead of finding one, get one guaranteed after beating a boss, that way the player wont get overpowered too fast, I also prefer the look of the glowy paint from the devlog, It made it feel a lot more like you were defeating the darkness and made your combo's look much flashier, I do hope this game gets updates, ways to increase the difficulty would be very nice, sort of like the seals from hollow knight or the pact of punishment from hades would be good, like a difficulty option where you have a smaller hand size, less cards to pick from, enemies scale faster with their health. Another thing I'd really like to see would be some sort of minibosses, or more variety in the bosses, I have yet to see wh...

hitting enemies in this game is SO SATISFYING OML. also the concept of building your weapon with upgrades as a roguelike is super sick, but i just wished there was more variation. i've only done one run, and on it, the beginning had me choose a skill. I chose the one where on first hit of an enemy, 75% more damage. ADD MORE OF THESE and spread them throughout the run please. also the 75% damage multiplier stacked with two level 4 damage multipliers each with repeats beside them and the final boss died really quick. so damage is a little broken as well :p. aside from my gripes, I love this game for the feel. it feels cool to upgrade and whack more enemies. i dont know how to finish this review because it was more of a rant than a review, so i will end it with saying that you should buy this game full price, it's fun :)

This game is absolutely silly fun, although a bit short. Is it a hard game? I wouldn't call it that, it is quite easy to get to the point where you one-shot everything (including bosses) when you stack damage cards with repeat cards. Though I hardly see this as a downside, this power-trip is absolutely fun to see and seeing huge numbers destroy enemies in one hit hits the good part of the brain. The only thing I'd want to see added is more diverse themes for the Labyrinth instead of mostly colour swaps each floor, otherwise it's a fun "See what crazy combo you can create" kind of game and go to town on the helpless mobs as you hit them for over a million damage with a wack of the brush

Its a very good game, but it crashed after playing for about an hour and i cant get the "a bit to fast" achievement. other than that, the game is fun, and I liked the art style and the music

really fun. the only improvement i would suggest is for there to be some kind of indicator for what reward the player gets upon beating a room, since it feels very random, and sometimes unfair. but a really fun game nontheless, especially the artstyle is beautyfull.

Very fun game. Def some room for some optimization (especially with multishot) but looking forward to any new stuff in the future!
