About This Game

Tonight is the Rite of Starchasing, a ceremony handed down in the village. Kineto was chosen as the priestess by pure coincidence. She is dressed in the priestess's clothing, and at the end of the ceremony, she recites the names of the stars. That was supposed to be all she needed to do. When she looked up, though, her groggy eyes saw a pitch black sky. The stars she was supposed to be naming were nowhere in sight.

"...Where am I? Are these...giant dice?"

Kineto came back to her senses and found herself in the middle of a giant labyrinth.

Welcome to Starchaser

Priestess of the Night Sky is a 3D action game with gravity in every direction, where you have to jump, leap, shoot, and dodge traps littered about the maze. A wall might be your floor a moment later in this "Omnidirectional Gravity Space."

There is no concept of up or down in Starchaser: Priestess of the Nightsky. If you get close to a Gravity Floor , you can stand on any surface, and seemingly impossible routes become traversable if you switch the direction of gravity.

In The Starchasing Priestess, you will come up against enemies that block your way, such as the labyrinth's residents and lords, but the concept of using gravity to your advantage is even more important.

Take a good look at your surroundings. The path will reveal itself to you--all you must do is think.

This game is unique and very fun, gravity plays a major role in the game and the puzzles in each level change dramatically so you must be prepared for anything. Graphically it seems a little simple and unpolished, but it has it's charm as you go with it. I truly recommend this game if you want to experience a nice platformer game with a lot of twist and surprises, anime style of course.

This feels like a student's Unity demo. No configuration inside the game (just the Unity default on-launch config screen), awful default gamepad controls, poor checkpointing, and frustrating platforming mechanics (jumps only fire after you *release* the button, unlike in basically every other platformer, to allow for a fairly daft "charge jump" mechanic) -- there are lots of flaws on display right from the start. I only finished the awkward, slow tutorial stages and a couple further levels, but I feel like the 20 minutes I spent was more than enough.

A fairly decent, laid-back puzzle game with one real flaw: the developers didn't play to the game's strengths. If this game were almost entirely logic puzzles with the odd bit of combat it would be better than what it is. It gets bogged down with a bit too much combat and some "agility" sections that don't really fit. One level required me to jump and free-fall onto the end level marker far below but aiming the camera straight down doesn't work so you're fighting the spastic camera more than you are aiming skillfully toward the mark. As for the combat, half the enemies are these target dummy bunnies that don't even fight back which could just as well have been switches but instead the pace of the game is killed when you suddenly have to kill 6 or so of them to progress. Aside from those points, though, the puzzle design is pretty good and the combat with bosses, while sometimes not perfect, is enjoyable. All of the labyrinths rely on the gravity mechanic where you rotate the level by...

simple relaxing puzzle platformer. its not deep nor exciting, its actually quite relaxing. looks plays and feels like japanese freeware, except its in english. i personally liked the cheery soundtrack and voice overs. she doesnt say much tho, just simple oh's. its a simple yet effective story, doesnt make much sense but it doesnt have to since the main protaganist doesnt remember much anyways, so you can both learn along the way. makes good use of my Xinput controller. i would suggest a buy if on sale. got mine for 60% of and its fair for the price.

Looked like a promising puzzle game with an interesting gravity mechanic. Controls are absolutely horrible, makes the game way more tedious than it needs to be. No config can't change controls or adjust/mute sound. Opportunitys to save or only after each level each with multiple floors so I was constantly restarting levels. would refund if I could.

After half of the tutorial, I figured out that remapping the horrible default controls is only possible when one starts the game. Then I had to redo the 10 level tutorial. Interest was waning after annoying combat two labyrinths down the line. Giving it another try later, I learned the game did not find it appropiate to save after 11 levels - so I could redo the tutorial a fourth time or ... I could just not do that, forget this game and ignore it in my library. The bland levels, dumb camera (I thought we had that down after Super Mario 64), annoying vocalisation sounds, weired story bits and ugly anime "cut scenes" do not make this propasal any more difficult. Good bye, I mean good riddance.

It feels like I'm playing those space levels from Sonic Adventure 2.

Note: This review is purely based on my personal opinion and totally subjective. As long as I, who write the review like the game, no matter what the problems it has, I will give a positive review. This is a 3D puzzle platformer game with gravity defying mechanic, the puzzles are quite good, and some of them are surprisingly simple in unexpected way, like they are really good at making things look like it was so complicated but actually it was very simple to solve. And I love it. The non-bosses combat are very simple, and most of them almost feels like just a filler. But the boss fights are... good, well they are not great, but all of them are tactical based fights (or maybe some could called Zelda-like) where you need to do certain things before you can actually attack them and they had attack pattern. The story is decent, it has some interesting part, there are some comedic, seriousness, and morals. But some of them are easily forgettable. The music is quite good, but...

Sound effects are annoying. "Doh" ... "Doh" ... "Hi-doh" Stages are uninspired. Control scheme is absolutely unforgivable. I mean I know I can remap it, but oh my god... Tutorial sequence assumes that you have the IQ of a glass of water, explaining to you at least 20 times how to fucking jump instead of explaining the jump mechanics and then letting you work out the uses for yourself. I don't have the patience for this.
