About This Game

quadrant is a difficult rhythm game with trippy animations that get more and more intense, the better you play.

Each level is a dynamic visual interpretation of the song, providing a synesthetic experience.

The game places a lot of stress on the player, learning to cope with it is vital for success.

This induces a meditative flow state and teaches the player how to handle unexpected, stressful situations.

The key theme is human adaptation to strange environments.

Why I love this game so much ? For the trippy music that stick into my head ? For the vicious animations that drive me crazy ? For the sadistic developer who brought this monster alive with so much LÖVE ? I know why... First, because it's intense. Either you in or either you're out, but if you're in, you'll really be in... And second, because it made me have this particular feeling that I wasn't playing the game, but the game was playing with me. I'm still trying to beat the third song, but the first time I played it, I couldn't help to smile ridiculously because this music and these colors made me soooo happy. This game is full of joy, and the last song is like ecstasy. The only drawback is that you may become dependent really fast. There is only three songs at the moment, and once you're done with them, you'll be craving for more. But the developer said he was working on this...

At 0.3 hours I really, REALLY wanted to vote "No" out of frustration. At 0.4 hours, things clicked; I beat the first level and I decided that "Yes", I would recommend this game. The most frustrating hurdle is finding the "correct" rhythm with which to play the game, and learning to "read" the squares. Despite what the first level says, it is *NOT* "easy" to pick up and play immediately. Bind the keys to whatever is most comfortable for you (I did ABXY), and spend some time in Training getting the timing down. Wherever the "little box" is, that's the next button to press. The "Big Box" moves to the location of the button you're supposed to be pressing. Make sure you hit the button at exactly the same time as you hear the "beat". Too early, and it counts as a mistake of the last "beat". Hesitate, and your rating will be poor. Just when you start to do well, the game starts changing colors, altering animations, and jittering like crazy. The first animation shift hit me like a brick wal...

A hidden gem game with unique rhythm experience. Press the note according to the beat and stay focus as the game will take you on a journey with trippy animation. As the game says, "The key theme is human adaptation to strange environments." At first I was very confused but after some trial and error, it's quite addicting and nice. Good luck getting all of the achievements. https://youtu.be/iG-MbqdySmk

Very different rhythm game that messes with your vision about one minute later. The better you get at this game, the more it will try to screw with your momentum.

This game is exactly like Skyrim. Only instead of dragons, you have squares. Instead of swords and magic, your weapons are four buttons of anger. Instead of experience, you gain high levels of ire towards the author. And instead of fus ro dah, you simply want to throw your computer across the room.

This game is amazing for people who both likes music, rhythm and trippy visuals. This game deserves more attention and a lot more workshop content!

I don't usually play many punishing action games, but Quadrant is so mesmerizing! It's like enforced meditation (the more you stop thinking and get in the "zone" the better you play, and it feels really good when you do.) Each level is hard at first, but then you start to get it...and then the crazy animations start! It's a great mix of challenge, relaxation, frustration, excitement, and wanting to try that level one more time! And such simple but awesome visuals that go great with the music. Looking forward to future levels! (I've played the game a bit in IRL venues, so more hours then those listed here. Speaking of which, if at all possible you should play this on a large screen/projector with speakers! And with buttons in an arcade console, but that's only gonna happen if you find yourself in Berlin, or the game makes its way into some arcades. :) )

As this game is currently it's unplayable for me, how to play is too poorly explained, the calibration is very hard to get right, and never feels right, I think there needs to be a way to put in negative delay. All in all, very good idea, but needs more polish as it is currently. I will be trying this game later.

This is a fun and simple game, within interesting visuals and cool music. It's nice to see a new type of rhythm game. However, being a rhythm game enthusiast, there is one thing I can barely bear: Streak scoring. Your score for each level is your highest streak, meaning that if you miss a single note halfway through the stage (which is almost always the case), you're fated to get a C rank or lower. You could simply chalk this up to difficulty, but missing one note out of five hundred at the wrong time can feel random and unfair. For instance, I'm currently looking at an end screen: 393/399 hit, 92% accuracy. Not bad, right? Nope, it's an E rank. Compounding this, It's difficult to get started in the game because the training system is rather misleading. The Streak training (the default) is NOT what you would normally see in the game; the Rhythm training is much closer to the actual experience. Once it clicks, though, you'll suddenly be able to beat the first level. On...
