THIS GAME IS GREAT!!!! I have no idea why the developers did not charge money for this game. This game is basically Half Life 2 with a few different mechanics. The game is even set in the same world. And with Valve not making HL3, this is as close as it gets. I have absolutly no complaints about the gameplay, story, or anything in the game. My only complaint is that the story is to short. It is only four chapters, but the chapters are GREAT. The engine is still the Source engine so no performance problems and a nice physics system. As I said above, this game is basically HL3 - YOU SHOULD BE DOWNLOADING THIS GAME RIGHT NOW! The game is free, so if you somehow manage to dislike the game, you won't have spent any of your hard earned money on it. I have no idea why this game is free, they should DEFINITLY be charging money for it - the entire game looks and feels like it was made by a professional development studio who put in a lot of hours to make this game basically perfect. The game...

This is all we ever wanted! This is like a small patch of heaven compared to the dark empty limbo Valve left us in.
Quick game; leaves you wanting more. Really fun; I can't believe it's free. Way better than some of the $60 games out there.
It's pretty boring. If you just threw 90% of what was in the base game of HL2 into a mod, this would be it. They changed the gravity gun into a 'rocket jump cannon' - kinda unremarkable to me. I also ran into bugs a few times with the new door-unlocker gadgets where they wouldn't open; kinda unnecessary anyway, if you ask me. The final battle, it's unclear if you are supposed to fight or run to an escape location because
the striders take SO MUCH DAMAGE. I haven't played HL2 lately, but I remember them going down in a few rockets.
All in all, outside of running into all the bugs, I feel like my playtime would have been an hour or less. The game could have used some better hints to the player about where to go/what to do, as most cues are non-obvious or not present, and probably only make sense to the mod creator
or people who use guides to play through games.
It's free, though. Just because I wouldn't recommend it doesn't mean it's really bad. If y...
A bite-sized Half-Life 2 mod with some great attention to details and some light puzzling that was handled deftly. Like Half-Life 2, just paying attention to your surroundings and looking all around (don't forget to look up if you get stuck!) will see you through the puzzles. It took me about two hours to complete. I wish there had been a bit more back-story/story/explanation in general, but I'm not going to complain, especially for the price. I had one hard-crash early on (when you first encounter a turret) that locked up my system completely and forced me to manually power off of my PC, but since it only happened once I will chalk it up to a video driver crash or similar, and not the fault of the game. Great experience. Please gives us a second chapter! Thanks for all of your hard work.
Don't get me wrong, it is a good game. The gameplay mechanics are great, there is a story that you can discover through the journals, and I love gravity jumping from place to place. That being said, the backstory is not all that good. It implies that you play as Gordan Freeman from the Half Life series, but I don't get why you wake up in a train. If you could develop the backstory a bit more and maybe make the game longer, it would be a great game. I didn't even see where the Transmissions or "Element 120" came into play.
I came in with high expectations and i was not disappointed. Even though mod was very short it managed to attract me and keep my attention which no other game/mod has done for a long time. Gameplay is as fun as it was in Half life 2 but even better with addition of a new gravity gun which allows you to do things our beloved old gravity gun can not. Game itself was dark and gloomy with combines hunting you as you are scavenging for supplies and trying to find a way out. This short mod is definitely worth your time and after you finish it i can guarantee your will want to play some more.
Good: It's Half-Life! Looks, plays, feels like an extension of Half-Life. And it's FREE. Bad: It crashes a lot. I'm glad I didn't pay for this because of all the crashing. It flaked out at a couple of points in the earlier chapters but then was able to get past them, but every time I get to that huge final battle, before I can figure out how many striders there are and where they're coming from, all of a sudden I'm looking at my desktop instead of the game. Twice is too many times, and I've tried at least five times .. monkeyed with the settings .. it plays a lot smoother at "below optimal" settings but this does not stop it from crashing. I can't finish. Bummer. I'd like to be able to recommend this, but based on my experience I cannot. If it didn't crash constantly it would be a cool game.
OMG so much BS in the reviews... "this is what Half Life 3 should be like"?!?! If it was it would be the biggest dissapointment in this era of gaming! Not a bad mod and interesting variation on the gravity gun, but otherwise its just a boring set of maps without a story, and a simple "boss". Apparently there are "journals" scattered around, but I didnt see any and am sick of reading crap in games that try to shoe-horn in a supposed story. Because of all the BS Hype in the reviews my expectations were WAY BEYOND what this mod was It's free, and if you dont care if you waste a few hours of your life then give it a go. BUT, if you want something decent and engrossing, nothing to see here - move along...
Pretty nifty little mod. Beat it in about 30 minutes to a hour. Didn't save just flew through it pretty quickly. That gravity gun is nifty.
