I purchased this after playing and enjoying the demo, expecting the game to include more events and extend into the story of the Count of Monte Cristo, and while it did both, it was a let down. The demo is about half the game and features two distinct sections and the full game has two more sections, both which are essentially rehashed versions of the two sections in the demo. The story ends when you find the treasure and you never explore any of the revenge of Edmond. The final section was especially grindy and dull so discovering the game ends directly after was disappointing. Demo was fun, game is really cheap, but just play the demo if you are interested.

This has an unreasonably good soundtrack. I was sitting in the main menu for like 5 min just jamming out before I even started the game, then there was even more good music as the game progressed. Overall gameplay is pretty good too. rec.

For the price, the game's length is technically fair, but in practice this feels more like a demo than the demo itself felt like. Basing an incremental game on Edmond Dantes' escape from Chateau d'If (renamed Chateau d'Idle in this game) is the most clever framing for an idle game I've ever encountered. The gameplay consists of bite-sized bullet heaven stages, interspersed with roguelite leveling, along with two pure idle sections that, to be honest, are the weakest aspect of the game. The bullet-heaven sections are decent, if a bit uninspired, but it is the storyline that pulls you forward: How, after each achievement in his education, a little more of the story between Edmond and Abbe Faria(and later, Jacopo, who is... definitely not a smuggler in this version) gets unlocked. They help him while trying to convince him to not spend his life on revenge. I haven't read the original book, but I am familiar with the story through cultural osmosis. So when I started playing, I expected ...

There's a growing sub-genre of idle/clicker games that can be completed in a few hours and The Count of Monte Clicker is one of these. Gameplay alternates in four acts between an idle-ish game and a survivors-like. Each of the four acts lasts about an hour and I don't feel like they ever overstay their welcome. It's usually possible to fully max out the skill tree in each act and the end of the act comes shortly thereafter. Overall I really enjoyed the gameplay as well as the music and the storytelling. The main narrative helps to connect the four acts and give you a sense of progress on a larger scale. This is an easy recommendation from me if you're looking for a shorter idle/clicker game that can be completed in an afternon.

An incredibly clever concept, a true clicker (definitely NOT an idle game), and the character interactions are on point (with a few 4th wall humor points which I quite enjoy, but not enough to detract from that classic and world renowned story which means it strikes a perfect balance). I absolutely love everything about this game. Well done Dev! PS; The only down side is the game is NOT the full story, but rather his journey out prison and finding the treasure. I hope the dev will eventually add more chapters of the book to the game, but as it stands right now, you can beat the game in just a little over 4 hours. it is still worth the price however, so don't let this lack of eternal play time like some clicker games have fool you, but go in knowing this and you will have no trouble enjoying it for what it is. This is a new game release so more content is fully possible, but even if there is not i fully enjoyed it and felt the price justified.

What a stunning game. I read the Count of Monte Cristo when I was very young and it wasn't until I played this game that I realized how I was able to finish the unabridged version. This game understands it. I adored the sections that would happen between levels where you explored the characters, The game play was interesting, and I liked that sections build off each other. I understand some people's frustrations with the game not continuing, but I think this is a great place to stop the incremental part. For me, the format does well to convey the monotony of the 8 years between Edmund's meeting of the Abbe and his appearance as the Count, so it really isn't detrimental. If anything, they should read the rest of the book! Truly the greatest Count of Monte Cristo adaptation (we don't count the movie in this house)

Mixed feelings on this one: The concept of having two different styles of gameplay interchanging is good but the sheer amount of grind is just awful, really feels like padding. The story is decent, the graphics are alright, but man... Finishing one screen of levels just to see more of them really kills the desire to continue. I have finished the entire game and can't say I'd wish it upon anyone else.

As with the previous game, good experience that is well-paced for its intended narrative. I hope we get something bigger in overall progression and complexity at some point from the dev, because currently the games are good but not as satisfying as they could be. Padding being low is one of the key qualities of the two games so far, but it is straightforward almost to a fault. I will say the two types of incremental progression demonstrated feel more like examples of how to implement the basis for an incremental game rather than feeling complete in and of themselves. They work perfectly well, but never evolve past the initial concept.

Starts out strong but gets really grindy really fast. There really aren't any idler-mechanics so it's just grinding same-same but slightly different maps over and over again.

I can't, in good conscience, recommend this. I picked it up because I wanted to see how it would handle the revenge story aspects as an idle game, and it turns out that it doesn't, which was very disappointing. If you don't care about that part of it, it's pretty decent.
