After around 35 hours, I can confidently say Tyranny is one of the most unique CRPGs I’ve ever played. Instead of the usual "you’re the chosen one, now go save the world" narrative, you play as a Fatebinder—essentially a magical lawyer—in service of an empire that’s already conquered most of the known world. You’re not here to stop evil. You are the evil. Or at least, you're working for it. And that’s exactly what makes it so compelling. Ever wanted to pit two allied factions against each other just to make your own position more secure? You can totally do that. Want to torch a massive ancient library with the scholars still inside? The game hands you the matches. Feel like tossing a smug NPC off a cliff and turning them into red paste? You can, and if you're feeling extra efficient, you can even strap a letter to their body for your allies to pick up down below. What about infanticide? Would you kill a baby so that order may be instilled in the land? because Yes, the ga...

About the Game
Play an RPG with meaningful, world-altering choices, unique and memorable companions, and a new perspective on morality. Tyranny casts you as the arbiter of law in a world devastated by war and conquered by a despot. Will you work inside the system or try to dismantle it… and will it be for the glory of Kyros, for the good of the world, or for your own ambition? From Obsidian Entertainment, the team behind Pillars of Eternity, Fallout: New Vegas, and South Park: The Stick of Truth, Tyranny is a classic-styled RPG with a new and original story, shaped and molded by your actions. The very layout of the world will be altered by your decisions as you choose sides, make allies and enemies, and fight for your own vision of law and order in an immersive and reactive story.

User Reviews
The best rpg out there. Meaningfull, non-manichaean choices with actual consequences throughout the whole game 4 main story paths, multiple endings Freedom of build Interesting characters and character interactions Original and intriguing world setting (inspiration seems to include antiquity and USSR, among others), which mysteries you'll want to unravel Beautiful DA There will be no right or wrong choices here, no obvious "perfect" path. Every decision has consequences, for better AND worse, in a world where belief is power and gods walk among humans.
Somehow I never played this game until this year. Some of the best world building I've seen. Magic crafting system is top notch. Even causal crpg fans should get this.
Tyranny is a standout entry in the realm of isometric role-playing games, offering a deeply immersive experience defined by its bold narrative premise and consequential player choices. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the game throws players into a world where evil has already won, a stark departure from the typical RPG trope of heroic rebellion. This unique setting sets the tone for a complex story where moral ambiguity reigns, and the line between right and wrong is constantly blurred. From the moment you step into the shoes of a Fatebinder—an agent of the Overlord tasked with enforcing tyrannical rule—every decision carries significant weight, shaping not only your character’s destiny but also the fate of the fractured world around you. The gameplay mechanics of Tyranny blend classic RPG elements with modern innovations, creating a strategic and thoughtful combat system that demands careful planning and adaptation. Battles are real-time with pause, allowing players to com...
I would strongly recommend this game if you enjoy CRPGs. The game play is ok, mostly the game play from pillars 1 with a few improvements. The spell crafting system is super cool, and the glossary feature where proper nouns will be highlighted in dialogue and link to a quick summary is very handy. The main draw of this game is the writing. You are working for the evil overlord of this world, and while you can try to be a good character, very rarely does it work out. The game's also short (by CRPG standards) which is nice. There are multiple paths through the story, so the game does have pretty good replay value.
Fantastic branching story with choices that actually matter!
Fun / original story, fun setting, decent gameplay. Scratches the RPG and choice-heavy itch.
Man, I haven't had this much fun since star wars kotor 1&2. The story is brilliantly written, the magic system allows you to tweak your spells, and your choices genuinely feel like they change the world. If you're like me and like being a total PoS if the game allows, then this is the game for you!
Even tough do like the Obsidian game dident like this at all
