Dropped it because I got bored, played it again on a whim and now I'm wondering how I got bored because this game is awesome.

About This Game
Astroneers undergo rigorous training to explore the frontiers of outer space for the good of all humankind. Creativity and ingenuity are key to their survival!
RESHAPE THE ENVIRONMENT
Astroneers are trained to use the Terrain Tool, a powerful instrument which can dig, collect, shape, build, and color terrain in any way they wish.
GO HANDS-ON WITH BASEBUILDING
Build custom bases throughout the solar system to survive and thrive anywhere! Objects are snapped into place in a modular system that allows Astroneers to create unique builds. Automation systems, crafting stations, power plants, resource harvesters, and railway facilities are built from the ground up and can be customized to suit any situation.
LEARN TO SURVIVE A STRANGE SOLAR SYSTEM
This unrecognized system consists of seven celestial bodies. Each of them can be explored entirely, from the rounded surface all the way down into the core. Astroneers will have to grapple with their unique geography and challenging biomes if they seek to understand them.
UNCOVER THE MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE
These strange worlds are dotted with mysterious structures and artifacts, while Astroneers themselves receive confusing comms from unknown sources. Curious Astroneers may seek to understand these anomalies, and with them, the secrets of the solar system.
ALONE OR TOGETHER
While they're perfectly capable on their own, Astroneers are team players who are always happy to offer a helping hand! Group up with other Astroneers and work together in 2-4 player online co-op. Playing solo online allows fellow Astroneers to drop in and out of your world at their leisure.
WHERE WE ARE
Astroneer began as an Early Access title on Steam in 2016, and reached 1.0 in 2019. We wouldn't be here today if not for our community's support, feedback, and ideation. As we continue on our journey, we want to reiterate our pledge to continue building on the foundation that is Astroneer with free, ongoing content updates.

played this game with my father, it was great bonding. I really recomend playing with someone you like being with.
I really tried to like this game but it has the most convoluted control scheme, on both controller and m/k, I've ever seen. Makes the game unplayable. I just got to the point where I can build my own buggy, and I was excited at first. But I immediately found myself wondering, why does pressing 'A' make my buggy turn its wheels to the right, and accelerate in reverse simultaneously? I mean, trying to drive at all is just a nightmare. For some reason, the vehicle turns its wheels relative to the camera, which is already in and of itself is difficult enough to control. Also this game has a ton of microtransactions. Figured I'd add that because it's left a sour taste in my mouth every time I've opened the game.
If you, like me, tried getting into Satisfactory and found the early game really fun, but found yourself eventually souring on the experience due to the ever increasing demand for efficient automation of resource extraction- and management then Astroneer might be the game for you instead. While there is an element of automation, it's more so there as an optional quality of life feature than the core gameplay loop itself. The best example of this is perhaps the power system. In Satisfactory you have to worry about building out a separate power grid, needing to figure out power load and worrying about going over max capacity and how you'll restart your production line if (read: when) you do go over it. Astroneer on the other hand just says: "F all that nonsense: you have watt, and you have watt-hours. Accidentally go over the limit? Don't worry, things will just slow down a little. Just make sure everything is connected and have fun! :D". The rest of the gameplay is otherwise pretty si...
i really love the game (at least looking at gameplay of it) but the controlls were really horrible. sorry
imagine making a great game like astroneer, then letting it go to absolute crap due to lack of attention to detail when coding. I guess that's what happens when the real brain of this project dies and leaves the responsibilities to a crew that has no clue. This game is a top tier concept. unfortunately, everything else about the game is rushed and buggy. Not buggy in a quirky, fun, slightly annoying type of way, but like put 100 hours into your world then have some bug break your game so bad you cant even load the file. It happened twice. Now I have game save PTSD and have panic attacks anytime i think of wasting another 200 hours of my life on a game that will certainly break and leave me lonely. Im going back to minecraft. OH yeah. forgot to mention that 100hrs was with 3 players putting in work. So, that's 300 man hours lost. twice. Forget this game.
absolutely loved this game, but, forced arbitration is anti-consumer.
I'm a big fan on Astroneer! I have many hours on Xbox, and recently bought it here on steam due to not being able to play with familly on xbox, and while we did get to play some on the base game we still cant play the new DLC glitchwalkers on our server. So for that reason I would say if you are someone who plays with friends and family, then unfortunately I don't recommend until these issues are resolved.
among the best games I've ever played because it has a chill vibe and if you want a game to relax in, this is the game for you because I played this game in beta
Worst UI of any crafting game Ive ever played, .super frustrating , stuff doesnt connect the way its supposed to, no hot bar for tools, no hints on what tier of crafting to find items, no mission HUD, no mini map, no camera lock...this game could be waaay better...play Subnautica instead
