Mystic Manor is the 3rd title from the team that brought us 3D Chinese Room and 3D Detective Story. Like its predecessors, Mystic Manor is a point-and-click mystery that is chock-full of diverse mechanical puzzles and 3D models and machinery that unfold in the style of The Room. As is often the case with escape games, you arrive at a property you have inherited and must unravel its secrets. Initially, the game is quite linear, with access to multiple rooms within 4 areas controlled by pages within 4 magic books. Like The Room, you discover a special eyepiece that reveals hidden clues and mechanics. Once you complete an area, you are free to return to it for missed achievements or collectibles. Most achievements are story or puzzle based, with a few awarded for specific actions. Any missed during your first play through are easily obtained by revisiting specific puzzles. There is a graduated hint system that helps you determine what to do next if you are stuck. Most puzzles also hav...

Game is fun in early stages but as it progresses puzzles get way to complex and hints are not helpful. I regret buying this game

Having done the two previous stellar games from this developer, I was really looking forward to this edition....but all for naught. Exqusite graphics/mood/mechanics are not enough to make up for the complete confusion of just about every puzzle in the last half of the game. Nothing makes sense for what you have to do nor how to do it. It's like playing a game of chess every time you have to solve something.....30-40 moves but they have to be done in one certain order. I have never hit the "skip" button so many times through the course of a game and I am more than glad to be out of this forsaken maze of conundrums. Common logic is much nicer than having to get inside the developer's head, the logic only he/she can understand.

This was a great game. Especially, for the price. I did have to cheat a few times, but there were many different puzzles. This game took me 20 hours to play.

OK story and good puzzles and lots of them. Most are challenging, a couple are weird and could be omitted or worked on but that is the exception. I particularly enjoyed the ending, but I've seen it somewhere before...

Just finished the game and really liked it. If you are into puzzle games like "The Room" or the "House of da Vinci" series, this game might be just what you are looking for. It starts off simple and becomes pretty difficult after some levels (I'd advise you to prepare pen and paper for notes, unless you have a gigantic brain xD). The level design is beautiful and the puzzles are very creatively designed, with hints often hidden well but never really unfair, which often gave me a feeling of satisfaction once I've figured out what I was supposed to do. I can totally recommend this game, but be prepared that all your brain power will be needed (unless you want to let the solution button do all the work).

This is exactly like "The Room" games. Fun game, but some puzzles don't really make sense. Not as fine tuned in my opinion. I wish there was a rating scale instead of a yes or no. I'd rate this 7 out of 10, whereas I would rate "The Room" series a 10 out of 10.

It's a pretty mediocre "room" like. Had some interesting and fun to figure out puzzles, but I hated a lot of the "mini game" type challenges they springled in throughout. Pretty nice hint system though so you wont get stuck, and it looked good, nothing to complain about there. Also recommend using a note system either on paper or paint to help you, I had a giant sheet of notes at the end. The story overall was nothing new... Secret societies, magic stones and a goggle that lets us see things that aren't there, it's very derivative of other better games of the genre, same with the setting. I have seen vague asian stuff, ancient egypt, cruise ship, victorian office and spooky steampunk-esque labs all done before. The ending was a bit anticlimantic since it's a teaser for the sequel, but oh well. They gotta sell it somehow. Overall give it a try and if the first chapter hooks you in that's great :) It did for me.

Overall this game is significantly better than the second one (Detective Story), and perhaps even than the first one (Chinese Room), although not by much. However, there still are some issues. While the game doesn't feel as repetitive as Detective Story, it does have some puzzles that made me question the developers' sanity. Part 3 of chapter 2 and Philip's warehouse in chapter 4 were particularly bad. Fortunately the game does have a help system that is actually helpful and lets you skip outlandish puzzles. Also, the ending was really unsatisfying (
apparently there's only a bad ending
). Still, overall the puzzles are fun, so I'd say it's worth checking out despite several annoying puzzles and the bad ending. Rating: ★★★★☆

This is a lot of game for the price. Lots of puzzles spread across multiple environments. It is point and click, so limited exploring in each room, a click on a clue or puzzle just takes you straight there. Many similarities to the Room games in that it has a lens that lets you see inside mechanisms or clues. Some of the puzzle mechanisms are tiresome to work through, just over complicated. I got a bit bored in the end with some of them and resorted to skip. If you are a hard core puzzle gamer this is definitely the one for you.
