About This Game

Dimwood is a roguelike deck builder with unique modal cards, every battle is a puzzle where every card can affect the next.

Cards are written with strings of 'pips' that can deal damage, reinforce your block, or even change the mode of every other card in the battle. Pips can be moved, shuffled, inverted, or transformed into other pips, making cards into something new entirely!

Venture into the Dimwood, an odd colorless forest that's hidden from the sky, and defeat the Beast at its heart. Learn to combine pips, cards, and artifacts to overcome fearsome enemies in tactical turn-based combat.

  • Play as three unique archetypes with different styles of deckbuilding, the Ranger, the Tactician, and the Druid!

  • Discover and unlock over 400 different cards!

  • Battle over 30 different enemies and fill your Bestiary!

  • Defeat the Beast at the heart of the Dimwood and unlock 20 difficulty modifying descensions!

Playing Dimwood feels like learning a language. Hard, confusing, and the symbols and systems are almost incomprehensible, but soon it becomes second nature and incredibly rewarding. The game presents a LOT all at once, and, despite the well-crafted tutorial that introduces you to all of the mechanics, there is still a ton of information to parse at once. The sheer amount of information combined with the minimalist 1-bit pixel art can feel overwhelming and might scare some players off at first. However, please do not let that scare you off. The UI is incredible polished and easy to parse after your first few runs, and, once you've finally learned the basics of the game, it becomes SO incredibly fun. The game gives you a surprising amount of freedom, offering a multitude of unique ways to approach the exact same situation, which is honestly refreshing for a deckbuilder. That freedom makes every session feel fresh and rewarding, and while trying out new strategies isn't required, but d...

Excellent game, and one that I'm going to be showing to my friends in hopes that they will also be playing (and purchasing) the game! The aesthetics are excellent, the mechanics are unique, the music is engaging, and the ability to modify your cards so much really gives a lot of customization options and allows for fun and unique builds. The demo is free and gives you a good idea of the gameplay, so if you are even somewhat interested I say give this a shot. This is a really refreshing take on deck building, one that doesn't just feel like "Slay the Spire but with X" and instead goes in a very different route. The only real criticism I can give is hardly a criticism at all, which is that the game launched in a windowed mode that made it difficult for me to navigate to the options menu and change the resolution. I am legally blind so I have my computer scale things differently, which means that some programs (like this) launch at a weird resolution.

spire like with an incredibly charming art style. The possibility space when it comes to card manipulation is incredibly large and fun to learn.

I don't normally care for deckbuilders, but this one is surprisingly intricate, and the commitment to the pixel-snapping 1-bit graphics gives a very stylized experience.
