The scariest part of the game so far has been the poor DLSS implementation. I made it to lv 30 before the game crashed, for context. I will not be restarting the game to complete the remaining levels. The game advertises puzzles, horror, physics, and co-op gameplay for $5 USD. - The puzzles are braindead easy, when they decide to work. Most can be cheesed with the infinitely spawning props. Puzzle solutions are immediately obvious just by looking at them, because most have been done to death in other games. Nothing new or interesting is being asked of the player. Very little thought is required, because interesting gameplay would just stop you from getting to the next jumpscare. - Horror in this game is limited to some mildly unsettling drawings and obnoxious jumpscares. It's horror as imagined by a preteen who hasn't experience what the genere has to offer outside of reactionary youtube channels. The game tries create an unsettling atmosphere, but it does so by just dimming t...
The game is literally a series of IQ tests, which are kind of fun. ~3 hours of content. But the motion blur and camera shake is egregious, after 30 mins you head hurts as if you had a hangover. And there are no options to turn any of those off. Given how bad they are, I have no choice but to leave a negative review, they feel REALLY bad If you're okay with this kind of visual mishmash, then I guess it's worth it
It's genuinely so bad, it's everything bad with modern Backrooms interpretations. Any Roblox horror game does what this tries better.
this game hurt me in ways I didn't realize were possible, my friendships will never be the same dont remember me, for there is only agony left in this mortal shell. forget me, forget everything, forget Climb the Backrooms
I never thought a video game could change my life. I never thought a video game could save my life. And I sure as hell never thought a video game could bring my dad back from the dead. But here I am, typing through tears, trying to explain what Climb the Backrooms did to me. My dad passed away before I discovered this game. He was my anchor, my best friend, the one person who always had a word of wisdom when life chewed me up and spit me out. And then, one day, he was gone. Just like that. My whole world cracked in half. Nothing tasted right, nothing sounded right. Every laugh I heard from strangers sounded like a crime against the silence I was drowning in. I spent weeks sitting in the dark, replaying old voicemails just to hear his voice, terrified of the day my phone would die and I’d lose them forever. Then I stumbled across Climb the Backrooms. I don’t even remember how—maybe fate, maybe some glitch in reality that knew what I needed. At first it was just… unsettling. Th...
A Review of the Game That Changed Everything: Climb the Backrooms There are games we play to pass time. There are games we play to escape. And then—once in a rare, shattering while—there are games that find us, when we are at our most unanchored. Climb the Backrooms was not just a game I played. It was a descent into myself, a long, echoing cry into the void that answered back. Before I found it, I was drifting. Life had begun to blur: days repeating like beige wallpaper, conversations looping like corrupted code. I was numb to the world—half asleep in a waking life. And then came Climb the Backrooms, quietly downloaded on a night when I couldn’t sleep, when the ceiling felt too close and the silence too loud. At first glance, it’s deceptively simple. An endless climb through levels of the uncanny. Fluorescent lights buzz like anxious thoughts. Each floor a little different, but all stitched together with the same oppressive familiarity. The corridors don’t just look aba...
