I've played basically 5 full playthroughs of this game. While obviously by the 5th time, the story has grown very old, it's the gameplay of the fabled Nemesis system that always draws me back in. I miss my orc friends :)
Shadow of War is very much a game tailored for Lord of the Rings fans. I finished it in around 30 hours, but that time can easily be extended with side content. However, after a certain point, things start to feel same — mainly because, set in the Middle-earth universe, the game only offers about 2–3 enemy types for the entire playthrough. Character progression (in terms of skills) does help offset this lack of variety for a while, but eventually the repetition sets in. As for the story, while it’s not canon to the main LOTR timeline, it’s genuinely fun to watch and listen to. As a big LOTR fan myself, I had no trouble enjoying it from start to finish. My advice: if you’ve played and enjoyed any of the older Assassin’s Creed games (like Black Flag or AC3), you’ll probably like this one too, as the combat and mechanics feel quite similar. Otherwise, it might not be entirely to your taste.
Would not recommend, Juice decided to copyright a game mechanic then decided never to use the mechanic in any of their future games, thus creating less potentials for other games from other companies and creators
Great game, honestly I love it. Excellent story, continuation of the first part (shadow of mordor) overall gameplay is easy to master and fun to play! Ending always makes me cry 10/10
One of the Greatest games over made. Unfortunately WB locked the nemesis engine behind copy right laws until 2036. WB is the epitome of not letting others have nice things.
Its definelty improved a lot from the first game, the nemesis system has improved a lot, story is a bit weaker here but the dlc did improve the ending so theres that. Please Warner Brother release another game with the nemesis system or license it out for RPG to use this would be a game changer for RPGs and games in general! (million dollar idea i promise)
I got it on sale for a great price and love it. Only problem is that I was over confident in myself and chose the hardest mode. So…. I can’t get past the fortress in nurnen. But would recommend to lotr lovers.
After playing both part of the game ..i can easily say this game is absolute amazing , well balanced combat mechanics with insane brutality and the great nemesis system it offers.
7/10 It's a fun game and has good fighting mechanics and a fun story, though some of the mechanics can be tedious like not being able to run 20 meters without getting ambushed by someone. The nemesis system is very fun and has a good way of making each character encounter feel unique and fleshing out their backstories naturally as your play. You kill them, they kill you, you both keep coming back and have a permanent nemesis whose always eager for revenge. A fun time for sure. Stronghold sieges are very fun as well as building up your army before doing it. It really feels like a world in chaos where borders change, alliances swap, friends betray enemies and enemies become friends. If you want nonstop violence and chaos with fun characters then this is a good game for you.
