This is a game from a very brief time during the 90's where it was still common practice to release 2.5D shooters. I say brief, because Quake had released the year before and largely destroyed the market for these games as people expected every company to suddenly have 3D technology. Thanks to id, the same people responsible for destroying 2.5D's, generous sharing of their engine, most did. Then Unreal comes out in 1998, sealing the deal on 2.5D as an option. What does that mean really? Well, it means it has functional mouse look. That's about it. Other than that, it's standard 90's shooter fair. However, where this game differs from its contemporaries is its art style. Frankly, it's like being on an acid trip with all the colors and malformed entities that will confront you.
