Personally, as a casual gamer, I'm enjoying this game a lot. Let's just jump right into what you want to know: Gameplay: Simple! Swap the tile you're given with any on the board to make groupings of 4 or more to damage your foes before they damage you! Get money and catnip to spend on upgrades and new ships and weapon power-ups to help you hit harder and faster to get more stars at the end of each level in order to progress. Sound: Retro but a little repetitive. What you hear in the trailer is what you get. Nothing obnoxious, but nothing spectacular either. You can turn on or off sounds or music but that's it. Controls: It's obviously meant for mobile as some things mention tapping. But it's all mouse from here, baby! Nothing simpler than that. Graphics: Pixels! Pixels everywhere! Except for the strangely large space behind the gameplay area which is just filled with cute cat and fish drawings. You can window the game (alt+enter) or full screen it, but it seems to always only have ...

Achievements: "COMBAT CAT" and "STREET CAT" seem unattainable. Thus, "COMBAT CAT"(all achievements unlocked) is also unattainable. While not necessarily broken, they require an unreasonable amount of kills in a single run(something that is not tracked!) +Unique match-3 mechanics +Upgrade system +Cute art +Addicting +Cheap =Retro aesthetic/music -3 unattainable achievements -Constant border on the edges -Windowed mode does not get rid of the border Honestly, it hurts me to not recommend this game. It's a really fun match-3-- er, y'know, 4. It has a cool swapping mechanic that I, personally, have not yet seen. The artstyle is cute. I love cats. It's a great game. If you don't care about achievements, I'd say go for it. It's a blast. The only major issue besides the achievements is that, even in a window, 2/3 of the playscreen is a large border. If the achievements were fixed, I'd definitely change this review.
Sweet game, if you like 10,000,000 you should check this out. I'm gonna compare to 10,000,000 as it's the only tile match/RPG reference I have. For me a much nicer game than 10,000,000, the tile matching mechanics in Combat Cats are way more fun and feel a lot less luck driven, also based in a much nicer era of graphics, and features Cats, the greatest creatures on Earth! Though it feels like the map runs out before the gameplay does, in my opinion another 3/4 stars on the map to battle for near the boss would improve the endgame in many ways. "Man, I know how much Cats dig their nippy, there was "high" insentive to get the stash back!"
This game is... Actually pretty darn awesome!!! All I saw was cats, but it turned out to be a more fun game play! There is no screen resolution sizes. It's full screen or nothing. I think this was made for a tablet... A little kitty meows in the beginning to welcome you to the game... KITTY!!! Game play: You can see/view it in the video up above. I want to say it's Match-4... But a little bit different from Match-3 games, because you don't just "swap the gems". You have one in your "hold zone" (I guess) and that's the next one you will place or swap with another one for combos. You also get power ups... From both Money and Nip. Wanted a different cat or a ship? You can get those two! There are also plenty of achievements to unlock. I believe there are 15 levels total... With three bosses? One super duper boss at the end. You either get lucky or you get upgrades. All nip upgrades + 23K Worth upgrades in gold... I couldn't grind until 50K.... I still did it! After...
Meow... that is the only reason you should get this game! But in all seriousness this is a fun little puzzle game to pass the time on your computer and if your a fan of cats like myself then thats another reason to get this game
fun combat block matcher. Cat approved
This is not a bad little puzzle game. I love the backgrounds and the battle scenes. I wasn't crazy about how extremely grindy it got at the end, specifically to take down the last boss. I got it on sale, and I recommend getting it at that price. 5/10
TLDR: Seems like a nice game in the trailer videos, but I think it fails with the gameplay mechanics. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sorry, although I really dig the 'aesthetics', pixel art and audio was great, I had to refund.. This is not a classic 'sliding' match-3 game but is instead a *unique?* 'pickup and place' match-4+ game. The *matching* game mechanic feels weird to me for two reasons; Firstly each turn you place a piece on the board and at the same time you pickup the replaced peice and take that off the board. Your next turn you will place that piece anywhere you want on the board and pickup whatever the replaced piece was to take that off the board for your next turn, and so on.. Secondly, being able to pickup and put down pieces wherever you want on the board lowers the skill level quite alot which therefore the gameplay would lose it's appeal and fun overtime. The only difficulty in the matching part of this game seems to be t...
Great match 3/4 game involving cats vs. fish. You can buy new aircraft(cosmetic difference only) and upgrade your weapons and health using Catnip and Coins, which you earn from levels. There are also boss fights too, which provide a challenge. My only gripe is that your stuck with the sidebars, even in windowed mode. But that's a minor gripe. I highly recommend this to fans of match 3 RPG hybrids like Puzzle Quest.
If you don't like to play as a cosmonaut cat you're a piece of shit. That's my sales pitch. Now, get it.
