About the Game

Blast off into high-stakes spaceship battles and intense first-person shootouts, where no two matches are ever the same. If you want to claim the ultimate prize — the mysterious and priceless Artifact — you'll need to improvise on the fly, whether it's chasing down rival crews and stealing their gear, repairing your damaged ship, or scanning for precious resources.

Your ship is your home and lifeline — for you, and your prospector crew. Keep it topped up with ice, fuel and ammo so you're ready for anyone or anything the Reach throws at you.

Blast your enemies with hi-tech cannons and gadgets, lure them into deadly traps, or even mess with their ship... as long as they don't sabotage yours first. When your perfect plan goes out the airlock, there's only one option... wing it!

Stay one step ahead as you and your crew navigate the Reach — a vast, ever-changing procedurally-generated map that changes with every game.

Choose from a variety of daring prospectors, each with their own abilities and tools. Whether you want to be a brave pilot holding down the ship or a clever trickster boarding enemy ships, there's no wrong way to commit space crimes!

The Reach is a dangerous, unpredictable place, filled with deadly hazards and treasure beyond your wildest dreams. Navigate through cosmic storms, battle space creatures, and plunder ancient alien ruins for lost caches of loot. Just make sure you beat the other prospectors to the punch, or you'll fly away empty-handed!

Artifacts are the most valuable objects in the known universe. Be the first to find one, snatch it, and pass through the Wildgate, or destroy the ships of every other crew and be the last crew standing.

player base is going down, very few player most of the day. They should put the game for free or advertise it more or else is going to die... Its a shame because the game is very unique.

Another unfortunate example of a studio releasing a game before it is finished. Wildgate is undeniably creative. It merges ship-to-ship combat, tactical shooting, and resource strategy in an elegant, fresh sci-fi package. Yet, the current experience is marred by incomplete features, resulting in weak player retention. At the time of this writing, there is only one mode, and while the concept shows promise, the lack of content makes PvE encounters feel repetitive and hollow. Strategic variety is limited, and once you’ve seen the core loop a few times, it becomes difficult to ignore how unfinished the game feels. Matchmaking adds to the frustration. Queue times have recently increased to up to 5 minutes, and the lobby before the match begins takes a few more minutes to get through. When matches finally begin, outcomes depend less on individual skill and more on whether you happen to be paired with experienced teammates and/or find one or two pieces of higher-tier equimpent. New and s...

TLDR: DON'T LET THIS GAME DIE, IT IS GENUINELY AMAZING. General Thoughts: Wildgate is so so much fun, if you get a good game it is literally like playing through a movie. The ship combat is awesome and smooth, boarding ships is a lot of fun too, and the PVE content has some good variety. The game is flawed, I won't lie to you, with some balancing issues required, as well as needing some more content, but don't let that stop you from trying this game, even if you wait to play it until after more updates. The characters are all a lot of fun, as well as the weapons and gadgets. Skill Gap: This game does have a note-worthy skill gap, though. When I first started playing, I was very frustrated with getting beat down so much match after match. I promise you though, take some time to learn the game and it's mechanics and vantage points on ship, map out the Reach and communicate with your teammates, you can overcome the gap and have so much fun (and yes, you can definitely win with randoms :...

The game has a lot of promise but in its current state, I do not recommend. Matchmaking is horrific. Beginners do not get spared as you are constantly matched with very advanced players. This leaves very little room to grow or experiment. The random teammate experience is not very positive and it almost feels like you need a squad of 3-4 minimum. Hopefully they can sort matchmaking out to at least make it more beginner friendly

It's actually such a good game. It has tight team gameplay and satisfying shooting and movement mechanics. An most importantly, games feel fair. You don't feel shafted by random mechanics or goofy gimmicks. I think more people would play this in a heartbeat if it was less expensive. I hope it becomes more popular.

Greate game. It's been a while since I last had that much fun with a video game. I do not post review often. But this game, feels so good and special, I had too. It deseve more recognition. If you like the promise of the game, give it a try with friends.

I quite like how you can just go against people with 1000 infamy (within 1 week of Infamy resetting, mind you!) who proceed to absolutely crush you simply cause they are just so much better <3 If you are rich, unemployed, and have stink lines coming off of yourself, im sure this game is great for you! Otherwise, maybe spend those 30 dollaridoos better and just let the sweats be in their own little universe <3 TL;DR: Matchmaking dumb, hard to win if you dont have a consistent squad and lots of time

I leave this review negative VERY begrudgingly because I believe that this concept is very compelling, and something I've been waiting for a very long time. And yet, I refunded it because it's not what I *wanted*. In its current state, I think Wildgate is a compelling concept but drives itself very narrowly into a PVP shooter-heavy gameplay loop, with the other (what should be) pillars of the game are left to the wayside with space combat, exploration, and looting feeling very simple and unfortunately one-dimensional which I can tell is intentional to keep it a tight experience, but in the end it ends up feeling dry. This issue would be repaired, at least in part for those who are fine with the core focus to be the FPS aspect, if said FPS aspect were satisfying, but it doesn't necessarily feel that way. In my experience, encounters boil down to a stat check between ships, getting into close quarters, boarding eachother, and then a close-range scramble to see who can keep the other team...

I'm hoping that Steam one day changes their review structure to allow for a points system instead of the good or bad we can review now. This is particularly important here, because Wildgate is not a bad game. It's far from perfect, but it still skews good. It's just not for me and I think it needs more time to evolve before I ever consider giving it a shot again. Part of this may have been due to my expectations of the being "Sea of Thieves" in space. While it definitely shares some elements of that game, this game is way more focused on PVP and doesn't have enough elements of the PVE blended into Sea of Thieves (SoT from this point forth). I don't mind being in a session with other players, but SoT has a large map with enough environmental and AI hazards to make a complete game without relying on other players. You get to choose your adventure and may or may not get into a skirmish with others. Again, this is preferable to ME, and does not make this a bad game. With this game...
