Lots potential... I rarely by early access anymore, been burned too many times. Gorgeous style, controller support, good music, combat gameplay appears to have potential. Needs more players, hopefully it gets them.

TLDR: Lots of potential, kind of clunky, worth a look. I am really on the fence about whether or not to reccomend this game. It has alot of potential and I will definitely be checking it out again further down the road but as of right now I feel the combat is lacking a little. Your hits dont have any sort of impact (other than the stuns/knockdowns) the blocking is not bad but feels weird and the heavy attacks I found to be awful, your charcter does a jump slash in the direction you press and its just doesnt feel right, I like the idea of the jumping and more mobile striking but the way its implemented I personally dont enjoy. Also having a proper dodge such as a simple side step or hoping back to avoid strikes would improve the flow of combat alot as it is right now its either people standing and swinging like mad or jumping around swinging like mad lol

Hanako: Honor and Blade. Wow where to start here. The graphics are akin to a graphic novel in motion. That's the closest description I can give for the artwork. the background of feudal japan is a beautiful backdrop in which to do battle against other samurai! The game mechanics are smooth and there is a learning curve for each of the three classes you can play. I would heavily suggest running through the training sims to get a good grasp of what your chosen class is capable of doing. The traditional music which plays in the background can help to immerse you in the game as well as the sounds of the sword being drawn, the Naginata delivering a blow, and the sound of the ninja's Kusarigama flying through the air. I am especially impressed with the way the Kenshi fights as the swordsmanship is fairly accurate. Slashes, thrusts, overhead blows, and even the way the sword is drawn is amazing for a video game. Even the footwork and stance have been addressed. The Naganatashi also has i...

It's clunky yet, not very polished, ninja controls aren't too good yet. It's pretty simple and primitive, even though there's a skill system, and the fights MAY be fun. IF you could try it actually. The playerbase is VERY low for now. It's understandable and not to blame. Good luck with this in the future! Refunded till better time.

Great game but barely anyone plays it. Basically a super-simplified For Honor but only the Japanese faction; the combat feels like a smoother version of the third-person combat in Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. It's been in Early Access for going on four years, but the dev team is very small—they actually update the game quite often though, despite the size of their team. I would love to see the community grow for this one. Edit - Response to Developer: Sorry my positive review and praise wasn't positive enough for you.

Nice game. The combat is fun and not needlessly overcomplex. Your attacks change, depending on the direction youre moving to. But im glad its not another MnB/for honor/absolver-like game with directional blocking, was never a fan of that combat style. I really enjoyed the music....the graphics are,,ok''. What i dont like: Ninjas seem to be a bit too strong. No customization, neither cosmetical stuff or skills/stats. No grappling moves/throws(not talking about the ninjas right click move). There is no weight behind your attacks,it feels like youre slicing trough butter, even if you use heavy attacks. Will keep a eye on the game and hope it becomes more popular.

Great game. Very much like a Japanese Chivalry. It would benefit greatly from a lock on target feature as the melee can be very fast paced an losing your targety can mean your dead.

The source of this game is heartfelt; when you learn what spawned it's creation. A symbol of remembrance, and mourning. Honestly, look into the story of the devs previous to making this game. Now, emotion set aside; critique and logic in place. The art is a bit rough around the edges, but in itself attractive by being 'rough'. The gameplay.. Hoooooo boy. Its fun. Reminscent of the old Jedi Knight melee combat; just take out the force powers and add ninja, samurai, and bishamonten monks. (which I personally had been waiting to make a resurgance or reapperance) The community is fantastic; im talking directly to you Hanako Discord Server. I highly recommend if you pick this up for the price well worth whats offered- Join the Discord server. For now, written at 1/4/2018 most matches are organized on there. Thats not my actual reason for telling you to join it however; my reason is that the people right now are just cool lol. Just hop on, ask to play; someone is bound to join in and more...

Ok so Hanako is a game where you play as 3 classes, Kenshi, Ninja, Naginatashi, and each class has its own set of unique moves and a different playstyle. Every character is fun and there are more coming soon (I CANT WAIT).The artstyle is fabulous and the music is truely fantastic. The maps are very detailed and by looking further into them you notice how beautiful they truely are. But the best part of the game is the combat. The combat is amazing, it not only requires skill but patience too and some fights can really make you sweat. With all the special moves each character has, every fight is unqiue and more intense. The game is a hidden gem on steam and becasue of it being a 'hidden gem' it does not have a huge fanbase. But you can change that, by buying the game. The devs are super friendly and they will respond to any questions immiedately, especially MpactMATT who said ill get LIVERPOOL SKIN FOR KENSHI <3. So overall the game is a masterpiece and i highly recommend it!

First off, the Devs have worked really hard to get this game to where it is now and it shows. When I had my first few games I had expected broken mechanics or obvious inbalance of the classes. However I was pleasantly surprised that they have a very strong foundation in place. All 3 classes play differently with their own unique style to learn and bring out the fantasy that they are known for. Easy to pick up and learn but also some depth for those who want to truly master their classes mechanics. The visuals are great and remind me of maybe a graphic novel come to life. I find myself pausing between objectives and while meditating after a battle to admire the scenery. I believe it's worth the price and can only see this game getting better as they continue to work on it. The Devs are very active and really want feedback from the players. If you are a fan of class based combat, enjoy objective based matches, and have a love for Feudal Japan then this might be the game for you or a...
