This review is to try and inform everyone on what is happening with the game and its development
Let me start first by saying, yes, at this moment, the game is littered with bugs, glitches, graphical imperfections, audio issues, and many more. From the developer, this game was never supposed to launch in its current development state at all. The reason on why it did launch in this state, is to get this game into the hands on people who had pre-order keys to download the pre-release build. This product does not in any way represent the final envisioned product that the developer is trying to achieve. At the moment, the game is suffering from a very tragic backstory of programmer abandonment, loss of funds, years without any development and a tedious legal struggle to try to get the game back on track. Only now, the developer is allowed to release this pre-release form from the most current build from back in 2018. Yes, 5 years have passed without anyone working on...
After 8 long years, it's finally out, and playable. And kind of garbage... The game looks great, and the music is great, and that's about where the great things end. It feels reasonably fun to play, but the controls don't all work for me. Boost and manual gears just wouldn't work. The tracks are so uninspiring that you're just full throttle 99% of the time, with a few dabs of brake to initiate drifts. I don't mind that the drifts are easy, it's an arcade game, but it's so simple that it's not engaging. Either more complex tracks or more complex drift mechanics are required, and either is unlikely to happen at this point. I know there's community options, but I don't want to rely on that when the game will sell badly in this state. Most unbearable is the car audio. The engine note seems bugged with the camera, so driving while looking at the side of the car sounds fine, but behind the car, how you actually drive, sounds like you're constantly on the rev limiter br-br-br-br-ing along. ...
PLEASE READ THE DEV'S STATEMENT BEFORE BUYING. THEY KNOW ITS NOT 100% POLISHED, BUT THIS IS THE GAME THEY COULD RECOVER FROM THE ASHES OF THE LAST PROJECT. IF THEY COULD TWEAK THE GAME TO ACCOMMODATE PLAYER'S FEEDBACK, THEY WOULD. "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you...." I really wish the best for this dev, especially because of the chaos involved that got created this situation. And I know it takes guts to put this out to the public, something you deeply love but know is not complete, especially since we will never know what exactly happened. But know this, its not due to apathy, nor greed, that the game out now. Its because the developer took the risk of getting harsh feedback an complaints, especially from those who aren't aware of what happened earlier, just to make sure that something got into the public's hands to play. Just so that some experience survived. I think comparing it to a painting in a museum fairly apt. You may not be able to see much further than what its...
If your looking for a finished product your in the wrong place. After 9 years the game is finally here, not finished and full of bugs (Some game/experience breaking) but imo that's okay, this game has had a rough development life (check their twitter) and I'm happy to see it finally released to the public and with plans to grow in the future via the current dev team and workshop from the community. I hope to see improved/fixed car audio and some tighter technical courses in future updates. Props to the devs for never giving up!
So, I really don't want to say that after waiting for about 6 years, from when I first heard of this game to now, that I'm disappointed in the build given, but I'm definitely not happy with it. Given the amount of time from then to now, I'm glad we got something, but with how jank-y and very simplistic the game is, I was kind of left displeased. I some stuff has happened over the years with the game being continuously postponed and that the original developer, or whoever, pulled a Houdini with the cash invested into this game by the community, which is why I am not upset with the current people who are currently working on it, but I do hate the fact that I'll have to wait even longer for a game that's malleable enough to enjoy more than 15 minutes. Maybe another year, or two. Hope the development of this game goes smoothly from here on out. Good luck!
Played the demo back in 2014/2015, glad to see this thing finally out
there's a lot of work to do but man, I am glad this project is not dead. Keep the dream alive!
Was really excited seeing this finally getting released. Too bad it's almost unplayable right now
Holy fuck
