Needless to say, Gunlocked 2 is the sequel to Gunlocked (yeah big brain time). For those who are unfamiliar with it, it is a shoot 'em up / roguelike game with an intricate system of upgrades and synergies, where we can build an infinite number of builds. The weapons do not require us to press any buttons to use them (in the game, we only move), but they have somewhat complex rules for activating and doing damage. Unlike the first, this one makes better use of the playing field with a more minimalist interface, adds all kinds of weapons and upgrades for more variety and depth, and gives us the option to choose the next map, among many other small changes. The difficulty is quite high, but it can be customised using modifiers, although it is the type of game you enjoy playing and don't necessarily need to win to get your dopamine dose. It shares some of the negative points of its predecessor, such as being difficult to read when you take damage or the health bar, as well as the pauses t...

About This Game
Movement is your weapon. A sci-fi action roguelike and shmup combined, in Gunlocked 2 you'll pilot and upgrade a state-of-the-art warship against endless waves of deadly aliens. Deep customization, branching paths, and tons of unlockables offer endless replayability set against the infinity of outer space.
What's New in the Sequel?
Expanded Customization: More unique pilots, unlockable warships with their own strengths and weaknesses, and a hugely expanded upgrade system offer new creative freedom.
Weapon Mastery: Each pilot has masterful command over their starting weapon, giving them a unique weapon variant no other pilot has access to.
Pilot Skills: Pilots start with a unique ability, not tied to any equipment slots or weapons, giving them a flair all their own.
Augments: Unlock and equip up to 6 ability modifiers before you start your run. Will you cover your weaknesses or lean into your strengths.
Utilities: Discover common, uncommon, and rare upgrades that you can stack infinitely to create the perfect build. Make trades with special characters to refine your builds like never before.
Refined Control: Every ship comes equipped with an active dodge ability for getting out of the most dangerous situations. Use the new "Air Brake" to make micro-adjustments to positioning when the bullets start flying. And 360-degree analog movement brings Gunlocked out of the retro era and firmly into the present.
Branching Paths: Periodically choose a warp gate and seamlessly jump to your chosen destination without ever pausing the gameplay. Different zones offer unique battles and rewards. Every run offers new choices!
Modular Difficulty: Activate any number of difficulty modifiers until you find the sweet spot for your mood.
Glorious Pixel Art Revolution: Huge, full color sprites with detailed animations make every bullet, bomb, and laser explode with style. Gunlocked 2 is a massive leap forward in pixel art spectacle.

Such a strong start for the sequel. A lot more freedom already choosing your build, path, risks... while the space-shotter flow feels just as good or better than the first part. Im thrilled on what is to come!
This is a hidden gem and I implore you to build awesome synergies and enjoy the power fantasy as much as I have! https://youtu.be/Y_L5EVmYo_o
TLDR: Vampire Survivors in space - 2 - The gamepad review. Frequently updated also, with massive bug fixes, and improvements along the way. This dev loves the products they are able to make and cares for player feedback. Please use Steam community discussions etc. to get your issues/recommendations heard, as it usually will be fixed, or advised upon. :) One of the best there is! Next week into 1 September 2025: comes a" very large content drop. " which is already being pre-tested through patching ;) Love the activity! This is everything in number 1 + DLC upgraded; balanced out, the force of taking weapons & utilities that match are controlled by your 2 rerolls, banishes, and . You need to read what you're choosing to upgrade based on what you have, not what you think you're going to get, hence, if you pick blindly/ not based on your current loadout, you may be left seeking that weapon/utility/upgrade that gets you what you need. [But the odds are equally so that you may never find wh...
More Gunlock and improved weapons/combat. It's a really good arcade game. Once it works on Steam deck you are basically set.
Well presented shmup with permanent upgrade mechanics. Some improvements over the first game in the series, other than that this game is just as fun to play. A nice lunchbreak game you will keep going back for. Friendly price and friendly developer too.
It took me 10 hours to 100% the currently available achievements. More have been confirmed to be coming as of written moment. That's still 1 hour per dollar, that's less than a good pizza these days! Hard to beat entertainment at that price. And that is what you get, an entertaining shmup that relies on movement, and a limited ability to phase to avoid bots and bullets. Unlike gunlocked 1, builds have a lot more scaleability, with the ability to stack upgrades to alter their behaviour. The current bosses are fun and rely on the phase mechanic for some of their abilities. Early Access PSA: This review covers the currently available game mode, and by any metric I would consider the game about 60%+ finished at the written moment. Lecourt however has a track record of finishing their last two early access projects. So expect that you will not have to wait forever. I may have to update this review sooner rather than later. It's a good, fun game. An improvement on gunlocked...
Very fun, feels like there's already a good chunk of content to play. I really like that I can save & quit at checkpoints throughout a run. The phase shift (boost) & space brake are also super cool. I use an arcade stick to play and those movement mechanics give me a lot of control over the ship, shmup players should feel right at home.
I really enjoy the game, even in the early access stage, and it is a great sequel with nice improvements over the original, and nice new features. I look forward to more of the game being introduced, but even now there is a good challenge and I feel I'm almost getting to some stellar runs.
Really enjoying this a couple runs in. Good variety in upgrades. Love the art style. Great on steam deck as well
