GUILTY GEAR XX ACCENT CORE PLUS R

Absolutely my favorite fighting game of all time. You deserve to give it an honest shot even just once. I don't have any complaints with the cast. Every character, even the simpler ones, have immensely high skill ceilings. Some characters have a high skill floor, but there's probably a character for everyone in here. The resources in +R are some of my favorites in fighting games. If you're coming to +R from Xrd or Strive, you'll recognise the burst gauge and know tension is removed at the end of the round in those games, and the same apply to +R. The difference, however, is that +R adds way more 25% meter options, making you have an use for your resources at virtually any moment with the FRC system and force breaks, which function similarly to ex moves (or in some cases, mini-overdrives). Overdrives still have a place in +R's system due to a lot of them serving as utility instead of damage dumps, and also the lack of tension gain penalty after using them. This game has a really unique cast of characters with incredibly interesting and constantly rewarding gameplay. I still am finding new tech, strategy, and more that I can implement with my main character I've put well over 1k hours into, not just in gameplay, but match review, theorizing, labbing, and more. If you want a fast paced, high skill ceiling, kinda jank fighting game Guilty Gear AC+R is the best on the market in my opinion. This game didn't care as much about balance as it cared about making really cool characters do really cool things. This game, that frequently goes on sale for $3, is one of my biggest hobbies. I genuinely love this game with all my heart and I've learned a ton about myself, life, and others through playing it. Anyways, I love this game and will probably continue playing it for a long time to come. I highly recomend it!

Caveat: I only have 40 minutes of playtime at the time of review. But What the hell happened to the franchise after this game? Coming from GG Strive, then to XRD-rev 2 and now GG XXX AC+R, you can see that while the graphics got better, the creativity kept getting lower. While I think XRD Rev-2 is better than Strive in almost every detail, there is an unwavering and raw creative honesty in AC-PR that isnt present in any of its sequels. Faust is hilarious, Baiken has excellent glute formation and can actually move faster than a turtle, Millia can still hair car, Sol Bad Guy feels more expressive and Justice is the crypto futa Daisuke always wanted to be.
