Easy to play but hard to master! Nice platformer with clear inspirations, but with room for authentic flavour too. The gameplay is engaging. The story is simple yet clever, the funny and easy-going writing makes for a chill vibe. Music is a banger too! There's opportunity for polish here and there BUT keep in mind this is a solo dev project! All in all a very enjoyable experience for all sidescrolling platformer fans!

About This Game
The NPC Nobody Asked For
Imagine your heroic protagonist just got wiped out by a "fatal error". Yeah, typical Monday stuff. And now, some random background NPC named Default, who's literally just armed with a glorified stick, has to save the entire digital world. No pressure then, right? Dive into this glitch-ridden, action-packed platformer, full of quirky mechanics, broken quests, and secrets that should probably stay buried in corrupted code. Remember, heroes are overrated anyway.
Why Read Instructions?
There are potions you're definitely not supposed to drink. So obviously, you'll chug them right away, and items that'll turn you into... something. Maybe you'll fly, maybe you'll explode, maybe you'll just regret everything immediately. Welcome to inventory roulette!

Pointy Stick Deluxe
Sure, spears are traditionally for poking holes in things. But this isn't any old spear, it's an overachiever. Use it to impale annoying bugs, call it back with your mind, slow down time, get across impossible gaps, and even transform it into a platform. It's the Swiss Army knife of sticks.

Therapy for broken NPCs
The player's dead, and the NPCs have absolutely nothing better to do than moan about their broken quests. Guess whose job it is to fix that mess? Hint: it's yours. Time to play therapist for a bunch of depressed NPCs who didn't even bother to learn your name.

Explore the world map
Explore an increasingly bizarre world, unlocking new levels, hidden secrets, and delightful surprises behind every corrupted pixel. It’s thrilling, like stepping on digital Lego and shouting profanity.

Bugs Gone Wild
The game's so gloriously broken that the difficulty spikes whenever it feels like it. Just when you think you’re safe, bugs mutate into explosive, rage-filled nightmares. And here's the kicker: the stronger you get, the angrier the bugs become. Going back to earlier levels? Oh, you'll wish you hadn't. It’s a beautiful cycle of violence and regret.

Welcome to SPEAR—because fixing the game you’re playing wasn’t exactly on your bucket list, was it?

Just finished it. It was a hell of a ride. I did almost every Bonus Level, then found the secret ones. Man, those are brutal. But I’m gonna beat them too. The art and animation are awesome, but what really stood out were the controls. Jumping and spinning around just feels so good. At first, it seems like a simple game, but then you realize there’s way more depth. You can chain jump, double jump, recoil push, glide, wall jump, teleport... it’s super satisfying. I kinda wish there was a dash, though. The levels are fun, there’s a lot to explore, and the whole idea of fixing a game from the NPCs’ perspective is just brilliant. When you hit the second level and realize those cute NPCs are throwing a party for their own death? It’s subtle, sad, and dark in the best way. I loved that moment. The story gave me Toy Story vibes, but with video games. My only gripe is that you can customize everything except the spear. I get it’s for the story, but still. The magic academy le...
This story is totally original and breaks the fourth wall, kind of like Inscryption (absolute masterpiece). There are things I’ve never seen in a platformer before, like snagging coins mid-air or sprinting on all fours. And on top of that, it’s got everything you’d expect from a platfomer, with really rad colors and themes for each level, so awesome! The menu graphics aren’t really my thing, but hey, it’s just a one-person project, so I can roll with it. The final boss drove me nuts trying to beat it, but then I found out there are even tougher secret levels beyond the boss (that one with the countdown is sheer genius!!) What an amazing adventure. I couldn’t put the controller down! And seriously, it’s way too cheap for how much content there is!
Gorgeous gameplay! The little guy feels incredible to control. I still haven't finished the main story, I got sidetracked by quests and bonus levels. It’s packed with quirky features that make it stand out from typical platformers. It’s a hybrid between a platformer and a Metroidvania. Hard to define, but really fun and challenging. I’m already looking forward to a sequel.
really fun and creative platformer with beautiful visuals and smooth gameplay, levels are smartly designed with little puzzle moments that feel rewarding when you figure them out. I really liked using the spear in different ways, especially once I learned it could push me into the air. The animations and sound design are top quality and make the world feel alive. Controller support works well overall and the game runs great. It feels like a fresh mix of action and humor with some clever ideas. I had a great time and fully enjoyed the experience 💯❤️
A friend of mine suggested me this game, saying, it's Dark Souls of platforms... I didn't agree until the 4th level, the Mines. And from there onward it's pure evil. I loved every jump and every bump. At the end of the game you become one with the Spear. I won't spoil, but there's a hint of romance, I wanted to see more. But probably that's just me. I loved this little gem and I'll play it again if it releases on console. Oh, and I'm not really sure, but I think there are multiple endings.
