This is an absolute blast to play. If you have even the slightest interest in mahjong and enjoy rogue-like games, then this is a must have title. Best of all it runs perfectly on the Steam Deck and on Linux, so if you're like me and avoid Windows like the plague, you can still enjoy the game despite it not being verified on those platforms. I'm not a mahjong expert, but it appears to use a tailored version of the Hong Kong rules rather than Riichi Mahjong like most other competitive mahjong games on Steam. Personally I prefer Hong Kong rules because chicken hands work well early on, but you need to build more impressive hands if you want to progress further. I've only been able to get to 3-2 and I keep coming back for more (no where near the end). The artwork and animations are beautiful and I hope they continue this with new updates, DLC, or a sequel. It's that good and I feel like it came out of nowhere. Stop reading comments and just buy it while it's (hopefully) still at a reduced ...

I never played mahjong. And after beating the 8 difficulties and unlocking most of the character I still don't think I played mahjong. But it is very fun.

tld:dr -> Good game, steep learning curve, very rewarding gameplay, MAHJONG This is an amazing game. It's the typical "card battle roguelike" like Slay the Spire, Balatro or Monster Train, BUT, with Mahjong rules instead. The learning curve is a lot higher imo, at the same time, the skill ceiling is a lot higher, since knowing how to manipulate the game via it's mechanics AND a decent bit of mahjong knowledge, can increase your winning chances by quite a lot. I just saw this game randomly pop up and the screenshots showed some insane trillion point winnings, a GIANT stack of tiles and some sort of animation for certain hands. I never played or saw actual Mahjong/Richii. Only the the solitair kind of mahjong where you put together pairs until you're done lol. So I went in completly blind, not knowing how ANYTHING works in terms of Mahjong, but the ingame tutorial is decent enough to get the bare-bone basics. The first few rounds I got wrecked left and right, because I didn't unders...

Excellent game but VERY hard to pick up without any knowledge of Mahjong or Mahjong hands. That was a steep learning curve, but one I'm glad I took on. The game itself is very fun. It's similar to Balatro in terms of trying to form hands through trading tiles (cards) in specific ways, with methods to alter those cards as well as the ways they interact with each other and with points. There's a lot of really cool depth and a multitude of different builds. The different characters, of which there are many, all feel quite varied and interesting to play, and have lots of fun interactions with the different aspects of the game. The music slaps though I had to turn it off because I played so much that it got repetitive. The voice acting is Chinese-only. I love the art and character design because anime girls are awesome. A few qualms. The difficulty jump from 7 to 8 (the last difficulty) feels a little too hard, though maybe that's because my meta-progression wasn't there yet. Still, I'...

This is my first Steam review ever, because the game is that good and truly deserves it. Essentially, it’s like a better version of Balatro that uses Mahjong instead of standard playing cards. The opponents actually have their own personalities and play styles, unlike Balatro, where you’re mainly fighting against restrictions and trying to hit the minimum threshold score to win. Here, you can win by playing strategically and preventing your opponent from scoring. At first, the early rounds feel like a fairly normal game of Mahjong with slight rule modifications (since you can’t use all the wacky abilities yet). But once you’ve built up your character for the run, it transforms into a completely different experience. While Balatro is a great game, I honestly feel this one is even better.

好玩很上头。比起小丑牌麻将花样更多更适合肉鸽。稍微有点缺少小丑牌那种魔改自己牌组的自由度。

I went into this game with 0 knowledge on mahjong, played a singular run and I am now a massive fan of mahjong. I cannot wait to play more and try all the other characters and their different play styles. I definitely recommend this game to anyone that likes roguelikes and is willing to try something new. (Don't get me wrong, half the reason I bought the game was for the amazing song and the other half was a split between cute characters and trying mahjong for the first time)

the music alone justifies the game getting a recommend. the gameplay is rather detailed and teaches you mahjong so there is no real loss
