About This Game

The property trading board game with a twist! Based on the real-world board game that took a stand against big business and plunged its creator into a ‘David vs. Goliath’ legal battle, Anti-Opoly is the property trading game that lets players choose free enterprise or monopoly, with different rules for each path. Decide for yourself: who wins? Is it the Competitor who charges fair market value for rent? Or is it the Monopolist who amasses control over whole regions and can charge much higher fees?

Features:
 • Enjoy a twist on classic Monopoly play by taking the role of a Competitor or Monopolist
 • Includes Anti-Opoly and two historical games that preceded Monopoly: Original-Opoly and Quaker-Opoly
 • Information about the true history of the Monopoly game and the legal battle over Anti-Monopoly
 • Local multiplayer for up to six players
 • Supports English, German, Russian and Dutch language options
For Mega-Fans of Monopoly
If you like really like Monopoly, get this game. If your interest in Monopoly is casual (or worse) - pass. 6.5 out of 10 "Get out of Jail Free" Cards. TL:DR - The inclusion of 3 game variants is great, the history features are nice, and Anti-Opoly itself is a neat take on the theme - but the graphical and audio presentation is lazy and very lacking, and there are a lot of missing features like custom difficulty levels and house-rules. Special note: This is, as far as I know, the only way to play the Original "Quaker" version of Monopoly digitally. Yes, Monopoly is older than 80 years - and pre-dates Charles Darrow's version. Being able to play the Quaker version made this a must-purchase for me. Too bad there is no explanation of the rules for Quaker-opoly included in this game. Actually, it seems to me that this version plays exactly like Monopoly™. It's just slightly reskinned. I want to say first that I'm a board game lover, and I've enjoyed Monopoly, I've even read books on it, participated in a couple of tournaments and so on. So I thought that this might be an interesting game along the same lines. Unfortunately, this is a game that seems to drag quite a bit. In monopoly, you have to take risks hoping that you can bankrupt the other players. This game, on the other hand, rewards extremely conservatie play, which can be boring. Because you can be bankrupted if your cash on hand goes to zero, you end up having to pre-emptively mortgage properties and sell houses simply because if you land on a property, you don't have a chancer to do that. Monopoly is more free-wheeling that way, while this is too restrictive. I'm not sure who this game is for . Maybe if you like Monopoly, but find it to be too much of a nail-biter, this would be for you. But I cannot recommend it.

This isn't really a bad game, it just doesn't measure up to it's competitors; that is to say, Monopoly. The animations are much too slow and the text is much too fast. That being said, what text I can read is the authors contempt for monopolies. If the designer focused on the game instead of his hatred for Monopoly (yes, that comes through very clearly) this may have been an actual competitor; instead it's more of a commentary than an actual playable game. There is a total lack of options save the sound volume. The Help file is helpful but only if you take time to translate it from the "I hate Monopoly" background. Speaking of which, reading the authors backstory with Monopoly I can understand his bitterness, but that SHOULD not make into a game; especially one designed (it seems) to compete with Monopoly. I own both this and Popcap's Monopoly (which is available here on Steam) and the Popcap version wins hands down. More attention to the game itself, minus the social commentary, would...

I agree with WarYore, only get this game if you REEEAALLY like monopoly. Otherwise, it is a waste of money.

I really like monopoly and thought a different take on it would be worth trying. It wasn't. Anti-Opoly makes half of the players competitors (C) and half monopolists (M) What does this do to the game? Well, your income from all sources is massively reduced for C and all but 2 sources for M. The main advantage of being a C is that you can start building on properties as soon as you own one, no monopoly required. The main disadvantages of being C is that you pay the same amount as M to upgrade properties, but get half as much back. Example, if a house costs $100, C will get a flat rent increase of $10, while M will get a flat increase of $20. Which is another place where the game suffers compared to monopoly. The rent increase is flat, where in monopoly the rent increase is much higher, offering a better reward for your risk. In fact, there is little point in upgrading anything in this game because the risk/reward is so low. The final noteworthy change is the RailRoads. C gets $20 wheth...

Another varient of Monopoly, However, there are some ameneties that I would want with this game that it dose not have, like skipping animations to speed up gameplay.

Well i bought this on the sale so it only cost like $3, i honestly dont think its a bad game it could clearly be 10000 times better but its not bad if you get it cheap. The Ai players are ok (they never trade with each other or with me). The graphics are a bit to childish for my liking, the developers made the font very funky etc so its hard to read the street names etc. The pop up messages for the Ai players are unreadable they so fast and you cant seem to set the speed. Lastly i cant seem to set my players name either so it stays player 1.
