About This Game

Replicube is an open-ended programming puzzle game/toy about writing code to replicate 3D voxel-based objects.

SOLVE PUZZLES

The main content of the game involves trying to match a reference object by working out code that will replicate it.  There is no "right answer", if your code produces the same object, it's correct!

PLAY AROUND

You can always open the voxel tool in "free edit" mode and just play around, making whatever you want.  In addition to the main 3D voxel editor, there is also a bonus 2D image editor for writing code to generate 2D images and GIF animations.  You can even save your image creation as the background image in the "OS" interface of the game!

JOIN THE COMMUNITY

Every puzzle has 2 leaderboards, measuring source code size, and execution efficiency.  Often optimizing for one will be at the expense of the other.  If you enjoy trying to squeeze a bit more out of your code, the leaderboards are waiting!

There is also an in-game online forum where players can share their own voxel creations, and even challenge other players to try to recreate them, all presented in an old-school online forum wrapper.

EXPORT YOUR CREATIONS

Generated 3D voxel objects can be exported into common formats to bringing into other 3D creation tools.

Generated 2D images and animations can also be exported as png or gif for sharing online.

This is a fun little programming game for messing around with voxel shaders. There seems to be a decent community aspect around it, and ongoing challenges, and that "optimization game" hook of showing your solutions against other people's to try and convince you to tinker around more. Not 100% my kind of hook (i'm just here for the visual math) but i'm glad this exists. Really dope soundtrack, too. Extra points for having a native Mac build.

Very fun psuedo-puzzle game if you have any interest in programming or problem solving. Very satisfying to learn how to shave off cycles and optimize your code through trial and error.

This is a really charming little programming game. The puzzles are decently difficult. Not monstrous but they do require thought and it's really satisfying when you complete a challenge. The music is excellent, it gets me into the logical groove so much that I give it a listen when working on programming projects outside the game. And I love the pixellated style. Highly recommend if you like programming games.

Love the game when it is working! Relaxing and fun to build models out of code. A really fun way to work the coding part of your brain. Very glitchy and crashes a lot, but has good autosave. Try the Demo!

Really fun game to learn the basics of Lua and voxels! The interface is neat and the challenges are engaging. The only negative point in my opinion is the lack of possibility to check other players solutions to compare with your own directly from the leaderboard. I highly recommend this game :)
