About This Game

Mashina is a digging adventure by the developers behind Judero. You play as Mashina, a friendly mining robot tasked with finding minerals to help mend, build and nurture her quirky robot community.

Gameplay

The Gameplay in Mashina is divided into two distinct sections; a deep, mysterious underground full of trinkets and minerals and a vibrant, fully explorable 3D Overground.

Underground

A lot of the game will be spent exploring, discovering and reclaiming the underground world.

  • Use your radar to scope out objects of interest.

  • Dig to excavate rare minerals.

  • Store the rare minerals safely in Mashina's backpack

  • Deposit those minerals in your underground base

  • Build helpful machines to aid your excavations

  • Find robot pals, treasures, trinkets and more

Explore the underground and discover an adventure waiting to happen.

Overground

  • Meet locals and get missions

  • Upgrade your equipment

  • Decorate your surroundings

  • Explore and find collectables and secrets

Art Style

Everything in Mashina is handmade out of various materials and animated using traditional stop-motion techniques. We then turn the animations into textures and sprites we can use in game, adding normal maps which let us have dynamic lighting and shadows.

Music and Sound

Music is an important part of our work. For Mashina we are making the extensive soundtrack using retro synths to make a sublime soundscape to chill out and dig to. All the sound effects are made using old synths too, to keep in keeping with the score.

Our robots are all fully voice acted and are voiced by some very talented people from across the gaming world and beyond.

Short, sweet, and cute. Fun gameplay loop with charming characters and graphical style. I especially liked the radio station system. What a fantastic idea! You just tune in to a different station and see what the hell's playing, and each station has a unique host. Each are deranged in their own wonderful way. I suppose the most I'd want would be an extra final world to test out my full power digging equipment on for a little longer. Game was very fun whilst it lasted, and I'll probably play again and try and beat it as quickly as possible. Younger children would definitely get a HUGE kick out of this game, but adults will appreciate the artistry.

Mashina is an excellent, whimsical game about mining and helping little robots. The claymation-style animation is the obvious highlight here, and it is of course fantastic. But everything else is great too. The chill and unusual music, the charming little robot characters, even the satisfying gameplay loop of mining, making zipline/teleporters and conveyor belts. If you love charming video games, you really owe it to yourself to check this out.

The crashbox-style visuals and character design are a very refreshing change from the normal in game design. I do wish we got to find out more about the world mashina inhabits.

Vibes for days. Stop motion, hand sculpted characters in an utterly charming and unique world. Game play is fairly simple, dig and collect minerals and then purchase upgrades with a smattering of side quests and optional objectives. Well worth checking out if you value unique aesthetics in games. Groovy tunes too!

infinitely charming and cute game, I was a big fan of how diverse the voices and character designs were. the music was a bit surprising, I wasn't expecting there to be so much and for it to sound so good, not to mention funny.
