Disappointing. I would love to give this a neutral rating, but given these options, thumbs down is the only option. That said, it all works. The problem is, what it is is so very, very blah. Given the great name, I expected way more in the way of atmosphere, but it is simply a balancing game, where you get numbered cards, and have to place them into one of five spaces that either have the result go up or down based on the space, +X1, +X2 and +X3, or -X2 and -X3. The range diminishes and eventually you can't keep in the middle, and the game ends. The one other mechanism is that you earn money based on how close to the middle you manage to stay. The money can buy coins that can impact one of the cards. Nothing seems to change, you can't unlock anything, or upgrade anything, it's just the same thing, over and over. That's the core of the game, but the flavor is also blah, the art isn't very atmospheric, the music doesn't match the flavor, and there is zero fluff. Add it all up...

XIII: A Final Game of Tarot With Death
For how long can you play with death?
A psychedelic tarot game
Death comes to us all, and at last, your time has come. What you didn't expect was that the reaper herself would want to read your past. Play your cards right and keep your Karma balanced—the closer to zero, the better. Try to get the highest score possible!
Go beyond your limits
XIII: A Final Game of Tarot With Death is a casual game designed to hypnotize you for a few hours, especially appealing to high-score lovers. Compete with your friends and try to survive to your absolute limit.
Gameplay
Utilize the numerical relations between cards and their positions to keep the final sum as close to zero as possible. If you play well, you'll receive money to buy magical coins that modify the cards on the board. Manage these resources intelligently to get as far as you can—and watch out for RNGesus.
Short and sweet
80 hours? Nah! This is a simple and short game, but really fun. It'll grant more than a few hours for those who'd like a special challenge: going beyond the limits of tarot and beating round 23.
P.S: This game was originally developed for a game jam and will be the first of many to be released on steam! Thank you to everyone who buys it!
