STORY

Spring is almost here!

Strolling down a street paved with pastel tiles, the sun warms my back as pigeons flock by the roadside. Amid this everyday scenery, it’s another ordinary morning, with just a soft whisper of spring on the wind.

“It’s a little warmer again today, huh?” Akari pipes up as she turns her eyes to me, her bangs swaying gently in the breeze. “I guess winter’s over.”

“I guess it is,” I answer offhandedly, and Akari giggles. I don’t know why.

ToHeart is a “heartful,” heartfelt, and comedic multiple-ending visual novel.
The protagonist is an utterly ordinary young man, but his friends Akari, Masashi, and Shiho make every day a happy one.

As winter turns to spring and March turns to April, the wind also carries a whisper of love.
A Love Letter to Fans
I was absolutely floored when I saw that my all-time favorite VN was being remade for PC. The love and care put into this remake is obvious, and the price is extremely reasonable. Highly recommended at full price.

FWMC brought me here. I enjoyed Akari's story. Translations are generally fine, but could improve in places. For example, English uses freshman/junior/senior but in Japanese it's just kouhai/senpai so the translation feels a bit off at times. Like when Hiroyuki calls someone senpai it's translated as junior... but then in his 2nd year when referring to himself as a 2nd year it's also junior. I get it, but it just feels weird. They could also maybe drop some useless text from the original. I never played the original VN but I'm sure the text is there because of static CGs. But in the remake you have animated 3D models. No need to explain something so simple as a character is bowing when we can see it ourselves. Finally, why make the player control Hiroyuki just to move from one end of the corridor to the next? We can't interact with any of the NPCs at all. We can just move to the end and either trigger the next scene or talk to the one girl at the end. Thankfully, these are ...

Let me just preface this by saying that I read the routes that I finished in Japanese, so I can't really vouch for the quality of the English translation, but the game itself is worth it. I originally played it to do Multi's route, but the game does a pretty good job of making you want to try other routes as well. Having only played two routes though, my opinion on the game might still be pretty green, but I can recommend it on Shiho's route alone. Multi is an interesting character, but the route is a little too sweet for my taste. On the other hand, I was expecting a longer route for Shiho, but I guess with this many heroines, the epilogue was the best they could do at the time. Gameplay wise, I can see Aquaplus is trying their best to advance VNs and I can say this is a pretty good step. Besides the time-eating mandatory day change animation, I have no qualms for the remake. As always, Aquaplus' games have an interesting story and the music is top notch. I have to say that Naoko S...
