About This Game

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake is a remake of the second entry in the well-known and popular rail-shooter series. Take on the lone role of a secret agent as James or Gary, or team up in co-op mode to neutralize the dangerous undead monsters standing in your way.

In February 2000, a small city was suddenly overrun by hostile creatures. Two AMS agents, James Taylor and Gary Stewart, were sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they noticed that the situation resembled the Curien Mansion incident from 1998. Determined to uncover the source of the infestation, they began shooting their way through hordes of creatures.

  • Remastered music (with the classic soundtrack also available in the game)

  • Modern graphics

  • Gameplay faithful to the original game

  • Co-op mode

  • Multiple endings and branching levels

  • Classic Campaign: Almost two years after the events of the first installment, AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart are deployed to investigate a city seized by undead creatures.

  • Boss Mode: Take on the challenge of defeating the game’s bosses as fast as you can.

  • Training Mode: Polish your skills in several available training scenarios to improve your abilities before deploying on a mission.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, IT IS CURRENTLY UNPLAYABLE! I was sceptical buying this game as an original House of the Dead fan, especially House of the Dead 2 as I grew up playing it in the arcades and on my home PC, but I thought that I would at LEAST give it a try as I wouldn't want to write it off without trying it. So I bought the game, quick install and opened it up to... No sound. Oh, that's a little weird... Oh it has a pop-up immediately saying that my controller has been disconnected? That's a little weird, I wanted to play with mouse and keyboard. So I pressed a button which removed the prompt and went down to the options select and pressed the key prompt to open it. Nothing happened. So I tried again, nothing happened. I tried on other menu settings, nothing happened. So I thought, wow, that's REALLY weird, I guess I should try with a controller, so I grab my xbox controller, plug it in, restart the game (Still a controller disconnected prompt!) and tried to open my setting or s...

"I hope your favourite game gets remade by MegaPixel Studio." is the worst insult you can tell someone.

It seems like the developers have learned nothing from the first Remake, and decided that the House of the Dead 2 Remake needed even less attention. I had to hunt down the Demo save data to even be able to play the game, and there are stages literaly missing a ton of textures (stage 2) and are way to dark to see anything (just about any stage that has dark areas), and i'm pretty certain that in the final stage, as you leave the elevator in the Goldman Building, you go to the right in the original, not left. "quick edit, you do go to the left in HotD 2, it's in HotD 4 where you go to the right, so disregard that, thanks, Pie Eater 9000 for the correction" Enemies not being able to be taken out in the intended ways (Ebitan can literaly still hit you with just a pair of legs, shooting Peter's head doesn't kill him, pretty much forcing you to shoot him in the chest, and having his chestburster come out, possible costing you a hit, just to name a few). Enemies are also, again, much tan...

House of the Dead 2 Remake continues the trend its predecessor gave us, a remake that feels put together in a weekend with lil care of what made the first game absolute charming. -Story 10/10 The only positive, Goldman bad, you do shoot, down to Goldman -Gameplay 4/10 How does one make shooting feel so eh? The guns lack power in the sound department and in the current state of the game they also seem to jam? You'll be in situations trying to save a survivor and the controls decide to just stop working then and there its genuinely wack. Even still, it is somewhat fun if not stressful half the time. -Graphics 3/10 Call me a nostalgia geek but the gritty, dirty aesthetic of the original is unmatched. Here we just have a smooth modern coat of paint where everything just feels basic. Character models are basic, zombies just look okay but the bosses? Hierophant in specific just feels beyond plain compared to his energetic original self. Forgot to mention, the blood still looks like straw...

As a major fan of the original HotD2 (from countless hours spent playing it on the Wii, I swear I must be at at least 100 hours), I appreciate that this is a (mostly) faithful remake of the original. However, this remake lacks a few things that leave me disappointed. Here's some pros and cons about this game: Pros: +Newer graphics +Slightly different/improved cutscenes +Option to use old music OST/soundtrack +Bonus weapons can be found on the map Cons: -The new soundtrack/OST in this sucks. I've NEVER noticed how bad the music can be in a game until I found this. -Enemy attack timing is a bit too tight at times - they attack too quickly. This especially applies to some boss fights. -Your gun doesn't feel very "punchy" or strong. Makes enemies feel like bullet sponges. I wouldn't have even known I was doing damage to bosses if not for their health bar. -In the original, bosses' weak point were constantly vulnerable to attacks with limited Invincibility frames. In here, their...

I don't want Forever Entertainment to waste your time with this remake like I wasted mine so I'll start right off the bat by telling you to go play the original, far superior House of the Dead 2 instead of this horrific train wreck... I was ecstatic to learn that HOTD2 was getting remade and even though the remake of the first game was a little "shoddy" I assumed that FE would most likely improve while they worked on the sequel. They stated numerous times that they were keeping open ears to criticism and feedback prior to release so they could make crucial changes to this game so it would be delivered in a better state....... this did NOT happen. Pros: 1. The re-imagined takes on the basic enemies and bosses were nice to see for the most part. 2. ummmmm... 3. uhhhh.... 4. Oh there is an an option for the game to play the original sound track which would be so much cooler if you could actually hear it... Cons: 1. The enemies have a rag-doll physics system exclusive to the remake th...

I love The House of the Dead series But while I get some enjoyment from the Remake, it's not good - Lighting is bad. Sometimes you don't see enemes or keys. It doesn't fit the game and the atmosphere is lost - I don't enjoy the ragdoll physics for this game. I'd rather get death animations back - Artstyle itself is not as good as the original. Graphics are, obviously, better, but the artstyle is not - Graphical glitches. Some walls don't have textures and you can see through them

The game is borked for some reason, i am on an ultra wide so im not sure if its the issue, but i have screenshots that show missing textures as well as horrible lighting and the fact that i can see through the map Maybe its my ultra wide or what not, but i am refunding this for now until it becomes of acceptable quality. Also, the shooting doesn't feel the least bit satisfying, i can't really explain it well, but the original games even for their PC ports has sounds that make it feel like a strong gun shot, not just a simple "bang", like give me back the crazy sounds and lights that made HoD/HoD2 what it was

Requested a refund after 6 minuets of game-play. Sound and voice is nothing like the original its a lot worse at least the original added a cheesy vibe which suited the game. Backgrounds don't render and the colour palate is totally off from the original and its so dark you cant see a thing plus the game froze twice. More like a downgrade than a remake. If you liked the original on console or in the Arcade don't buy this abomination, needs a lot more polish. SEGA hang your head in shame for allowing this developer to make a mess of a classic arcade and Dreamcast game. Oh yes...no light gun support as well.

So take the quality of the voice acting in the original, remove all charm and unintended comedy, and apply it to every other aspect of the game. That's the remake. Graphics that feel generic and lifeless. Textures that are either way too dark or don't even load sometimes. Gunplay that's unsatisfying, lacks impact and feels dull. Hitboxes that are more suggestions than actual hitboxes (Tower fight oof). And no sinden or other lightgun support. The PC port of the original is on the internet archive, and downloading that and just using raw input for my sinden took 10 minutes to setup and felt 10x better. House of the Dead is far from a "respected" or "storied" franchise, but this is still a disgusting insult to an on-rails classic.
