About This Game

Look Outside is a survival horror RPG set in a single apartment building. A mysterious event turns anyone who looks out the window into grotesque monsters, leaving the world in absolute chaos. Scavenge the building to seek food, supplies, and weapons while encountering strange characters - human and otherwise.

Survival Horror & Resource Management

Plan tense expeditions outside your apartment as you fend off grotesque monsters dwelling in and around your building. Return to your home with gathered resources and partial answers to your questions to recuperate by playing games, making dinner, crafting tools, and getting to know your neighbors turned allies.

Inventive Turn-Based Combat

Clash with over 150 hand-crafted creatures in turn-based combat that accounts for space between you and your foes as you wield makeshift weapons and items you've gathered in the corridors of the building.

Impeccable Body Horror Aesthetic

Meet your macabre fate in a bizarre world teeming with an unconventional and occasionally psychotic cast of characters - some of which you can recruit and offer safe harbor in your apartment as the mystery unravels.

Small, Experimental, and Unwaveringly Weird

Offering 10 - 12 hours of playtime with a dozen boss encounters, friends to recruit, and visitors to invite back to your home, Look Outside offers different experiences for every player on their way to uncover several different endings.

It is a rare treat when a game lives up to high expectations. Rarer still when that game greatly surpasses them. I do not say this lightly - Look Outside is one of my favourite games I have ever played. If you haven't played it and are reading this review, I urge you not to read anything more about this game and go in as blind as you can (make sure you play on survival horror mode for the best experience). I also urge you to resist the urge to consult the internet about how literally anything in game works while you are playing it. Despite being extremely excited to start it from the beginning again (a first for me after sinking 40+ hours into an RPG), nothing will compare to the experience of knowing nothing about the game's structure on my first playthrough, and I wish for more people to have a similar experience. Look Outside does an unbelievably good job of weaving decision making into every aspect of the game, and by doing so is able to make unsuspecting players doubt every ch...

I came into this expecting scary monsters to kill, ended up adopting a wholesome family of weirdos. I really like the theme of this game, not every creature is out to get you, some have their bodies twisted into something horrific, but they still retain their humanity, and the game will reward you for treating them like people. I ended up getting really attached to the growing crowd of goobers squatting around in my apartment. An amazing, underrated gem of a game, wish I could play it all over again for the first time.

I fell in love with my plant, adopted a mutant rat child, tricked a man into being romanced by worms, gave a colony of roaches some TV dinners until they developed a gestalt insect consciousness, and died endlessly against a furnace. I did all this without taking a shower, like the smelly NEET man I am. I love this game.

It is not often I write about games, nor am I in any shape or form a qualified critic. But screw it! - I'm here to say why this game is genuine, authentic masterclass in creative horror that is criminally underrated and made with so much heart and YOU should play it. For starters, artistic style, character interactions and lore depth is just that perfect amount that I could honestly marvel in both amazement (and horror) that some talented artist/s created. I was dragged into this hidden-gem PURELY by its art style. Fear and Hunger vibes all the way, with the atmospheric dread of Silent Hill and game play of an RPG. On paper seems difficult to pull off without the extravagant budget, but this game just does it effortlessly while compiled of brilliant pixel illustrations and difficult turn-based combat, the lesson to be learnt is: less is more. Also the music; just brilliant, catchy and often times instil the necessary dread for a tense scene, or the relaxation at the bar, or the sile...

First came across this game due to it trending on the Steam store front page, liked the premise and decided to pick it up. I think you can judge by my hours of playtime that I did in fact enjoy the game quite a bit, considering I beat it on my first play through in about 15 hours or so. (Though I did just about everything extra that I could) While most games seem to just keep getting bigger and bigger, which is great if you have the free time, I definitely enjoy the fact you can achieve an ending fairly quickly if desired. There is also plenty of optional things to do if you are craving more. Great soundtrack, story, art and game play. Look Outside was never dull in my opinion and easily sucks you in. The battles never felt unfair while still offering challenge, an easy recommend from me!

I was never really into RPG type games but what interested me was the horror aspect of the game. But after playing I gotta say maybe I was wrong about disliking RPG's this game is fantastic.
