I just had to buy this very cute game, there is nothing more fun than being an Ostrich. There is so much to find and explore in this game, I really dont want to spoil the game play as the store page shares enough information about the game, and what you see is what you get plus loads more, it has Trading cards and plenty Achievements to earn. This game is very fun and a family friendly game all round, so if you choose to buy it and its your kind of game you wont be disapointed. The developers did a lovely job making this game, great work guys ;D

Ostrich Island is a weird one. The graphics aren't great, there's no real story, the gameplay is simple, and yet... I find myself positively enjoying this game. It reminds me a lot of the old PlayStation games I used to play as a kid. It's a fairly simple 3D platformer. You roam around each island trying to escape. Along the way you can collect eggs, food, and treasures like hats and skins. There's also multiplayer, although I haven't tried that yet. It's certainly not the most polished game out there, but it's just so simple and harmless and makes me grin from ear to ear. The devs are constantly providing major updates. This, along with Steam Workshop integration, means there's a constant flow of new content for the game. Maybe I'm a bit bias because this reminds me so strongly of my childhood, but I really am enjoying this game tons.
Picture Goat Simulator without fracked up physics and with an actual goal and purpose, plus you're an ostrich, let the fun begin! Honestly a rather amusing game, it feels like it needs a little bit more polishing to be an effective game, but not bad at all for a small devs 1.0 version. The ability to put a hat on your ostrich is priceless, because you never see an ostrich with a hat in real life and it's adorable!
Bought it as a joke, came out as a decent game.
This game is cute and quirky, and a good way to entertain yourself. Kinda reminds me of the good old days, when games were simple and silly like this and you could spend the entire game derping around if you really wanted to.
It has a lot of shortcomings, but you can overlook them for a five dollar adventure-exploration game. Primary issues are: the graphical performance is poor, the player can fall through the terrain, the controls are wonky, and the color pallet in the later "cavern levels" is a horrid black-on-black. All that said, it is a lot of fun to explore the early island levels, collect the hidden gear, and unlock extras with found eggs. Getting a few hours of enjoyment is more than I get from some other expensive games, so I don't mind recommending other people give it a try, too. Played on a speedy ubuntu linux desktop with radeon mesa graphic drivers and an xbox-type gamepad controller. The game uses the Unity game engine, and it requires 1,700MBs of diskspace. Looking at the steam achievements: 62% of owners got the award for starting the first island, yet only 29% stuck around to get the statue on the second island. Gamepad controls not recommended.
Surprisingly catthartic. I guess I secretly wanted to be an ostrich all along, without even knowing. Very fun, though the controls can be clunky (I find remapping the keys to be helpful.) Something about it is very charming, bringing back memories of the collect-a-thons of the N64 era.
It has ostriches in it so that's an instant plus right there. If you enjoyed the early platform games of the Playstation such as Croc you'll probably enjoy this. This game definitely isn't for everyone though. It has minor control issues and collision detection is slightly off but overall it's a fun experience. If you like platform games or birds you should buy this game.
I played this game for one hour. it was fun for that hour. Islands are very repetitive. Controls are clunky (often fell to my death beacuse of it) Couldnt type a password in to play with a friend which made online games very hard. The online system needs to be easier to connect to friends. Took me and a friend a while just to figure out how to join each other. At first this game looks fun and cute, me and a friend bought it for fun online coop gameplay. We read the reviews on here to see if it was worth the ÂŁ2. It wasnt. This game reminds me of the over the topness and stupidness of Goat Similator and the level design of 3D platformers like Banjo and Kazooie. I got a refund after an hour of playing this as it was repetitive and boring. 2/5 I might delete this review, getting alot of hate
Gamers from my era mourn the loss of collect-a-thons; if they're lucky they stumble across Ostrich Island and see there is hope. It has the mechanics of the genre we loved but definitely not the production values. Still, if you're satisfied to eat your potatoes without meat this might hold you over.. if anything because it's fun to explore. That alone proves the genre is worth bringing back to life.
