What if DOOM was also a tactical shooter? What if gnosticism was mostly about ryona? What if "The Fifth Element" was directed by Chad Stahelski? What if the lead dev and designer was truly cooking?

Absolute cinema of a game, improves upon the original in many ways, the gunplay might seem odd at first but when you get in the rythm for it, it's quite enjoyable, and runs easy on low end devices /// Noted that to fix some issues concerning your mouse input registration you should consult the steam forum for help, otherwise you will have trouble using pump action shotguns and some other weapons /// The artwork, the soundtrack, the maps, everything has been improved twice if not thrice in quality, a lot of lore is also added to people interested in the world you find yourself in Only wish is to see more of what doekuramori will cook up in their shed A pure gold 9.4/10
Beyond Citadel is a boomer shooter made for a very niche category of gamers who enjoy guns, anime girls, and guro. Despite this unusual combination, the game stands on its own, and its story is excellent. I can fully recommend it. Now, let's get into why. ________________________________________ 1. Gameplay Beyond Citadel is fundamentally a boomer shooter, but it features a much more interesting and different style of managing gunplay. Instead of the typical approach of guns with large ammo reserves, you work on a magazine system. What's even more interesting is that reloading isn't a simple button press; you must manually eject the previous magazine, insert a new one with a different button, and then cock your gun with another button. Weapons like Winchester rifles, bolt-action sniper rifles, and revolvers require you to cycle the bullets individually. The game does offer a simplified reloading system as an alternative, but I personally do not recommend it, as I feel it subtracts ...
Beyond Citadel is an interesting game. Being a sequel to Citadel, the game is an iteration on many of the core ideas already present in the first entry in the series. Gameplay has many of the components already present in the previous title, with some notable changes. The developer has a strong appreciation for merging arcade combat with the less intrusive elements of tactical combat, and Beyond Citadel is a very good step in refining this concept. Level design, enemy design, item placement, all are fairly standard fair as far as retro FPS games are concerned. The tactical elements of gameplay are focused in the guns. Weapons degrade with use, reducing accuracy and causing jams. Guns need to be manually charged/cycled, their magazines must be deliberately removed and new ones inserted. Weapons that are not self loading need to be cycled with every shot and reloaded one cartridge/shell at a time. I truly love this idea, and it is easily the mechanic that makes Beyond Citadel stand out....
This game is phenomenal, but I can't quite recommend it to everyone. The gore borders on fetishistic, and that makes the experience a bit uncomfortable. I can get over it, but it may not be your cup of tea. Otherwise, it has great gunplay. The music can get a bit repetitive on some levels, but it was good for the most part with a few standouts (missions 1-4 and 7-1). Again, the gore is pretty disturbing. You can turn it off, but be wary of it before buying.
This game is genuinely amazing. Better than Doom: The Dark Ages! ... But like, actually. The gunplay is satisfying, all of the guns feel really good to use, it's fast, it's intense, and the "tacticool" elements of manually ejecting, reloading and cocking your guns is surprisingly engaging and adds an effective layer of intensity and fear when your gun jams in the middle of a big fire fight. I can understand the gore being offputting for people, but it can be turned off if it's too much for you to handle (which I would get because it's uh, something else), but you'd be doing yourself a disservice as this game is really, really good. If the anime aesthetic is offputting however; grow up. Deal with it.
surpisingly great game with elaborate shooting and reloading, not exactly Doom, but maybe can be played as one, personally I turned on every tactical chain-on-your-legs option I could and it was still enjoyable even as a somewhat tactical shooter, yeah your experience is really customizable, even to the point where you can disable somewhat demanding weapon reload and play the game like a caveman
Fantastic gameplay which mixes old school boomer-shooters with tactical shooters. Amazing level design. Some weird waifu stuff which some people may be into.
Not into the weeb stuff, but the game itself is incredibly fun. Weapons feel great, reload/jam mechanics are well implemented and add a lot of welcomed complexity over your standard fps fare. If the anime stuff is keeping you from trying out this game, you're missing out. Looking forward to the Dev(s) next project.
played The Citadel and Beyond Citadel and loved them 10/10 for me i miss tycho though😭 he's my favorite lil guy
