I held off on getting this software for a few years before finally purchasing it outright, and suffice to say there's a reason why Substance is the industry standard for texturing. I wish there were better cheap options out there because I hate Adobe as much as the next guy, but this is the big one for a reason. I can't say that I'm a material artist by any stretch of the imagination, but within a few hours of downloading the software and going through a tutorial series online, I was able to get started creating some pretty solid procedural textures with customizable parameters. One advantage here is that this can potentially reduce the amount of time I need to spend adding and then baking those details into meshes in my modeling software. The program gives you a lot of freedom to create whatever you want and then change stuff on the fly in Painter or any other application, and ultimately, my only regret is that I didn't buy Painter or Designer sooner, since they seem to get more expen...
