About This Game

The year is 1991. The location is a city in the mid-west. You know... that one. Planet Earth is in peril, and there's only one plucky outsider who has the wherewithal and headgear to defeat the incoming alien army... SAUCEPANHEAD! (Mainly called that because he has a saucepan on his head.)

SPACE IS THE PLACE

Gather a team of not-quite-fearless and generally unqualified acquaintances to fight off formidable extraterrestrial foes as you progress on an exhilarating and sometimes unusual space adventure to save the galaxy. This is the untold story of an event that has been kept under wraps from society until now. Play as plucky outsider Saucepanhead in Saucepanhead I - Pangalactic Panic, a retro turn-based rogue-lite RPG like ma and pa used to play!

Travel across the galaxy from your small home town through a swathe of dramatic landscapes in retro RPG 2D top-down style. Visit some familiar locations from B-movie favourites and spot the subtle and not-so-subtle sci-fi Easter eggs as you go!

Some procedural levels aboard the UFO and on the alien planet lead to a different gaming experience every time.

Interact with on-map characters and engage in very silly dialogue throughout.

PAN-GALACTIC PANIC

Fight multitudes of strange and unusual alien enemies in thrilling classic RPG-style turn-based battles.

On map and off map enemies spark the scintillating battles. Use a variety of humorous class-based skills that apply to the different characters, such as Lab Assistant, Plucky Outsider and Cheerleader, buffing up your team or employing powerful Turbo Power special moves to win the battle. You can grind to build up your XP and learn awesome and amusing new skills.

The game features a totally rad chiptune soundtrack by Murray Atkinson and Joel Steudler, along with super awesome retro pixel graphics by Jason ‘Final Boss Blues’ Perry as well as additional artists, giving it a chilled synthwave vibe.

The game has multiple endings depending on your peaceful or less-diplomatic actions, so should keep it interesting with multiple playthroughs. There is one very evil ending which we're not even sure is possible to beat, but technically should be, against the Galaxy-swallower Kwai-zharr - we'd be very interested to hear if you can beat it!

Contains mild cartoon-esque violence, some sassy backchat and saucepans.

Let's Get Saucy! Saucepanhead I appears to be the first game by Another Dimension Game Studio but they're off to a great start with this one. It took me a little over 3 hours to complete and it was fun all the way through. There were a couple of tough bosses towards the end so I had to reload a few times but defeated them after a few attempts. It was useful being able to change the party around as each character has different skills to learn and use. The dialogue is amusing and the music/graphics fit well with the story. If you enjoy games like this then you'll definitely like this one and it is a bargain at the price. From the naming, it looks like this may be part of a series so I look forward to playing the next one whenever it comes out.
