I played Raptor growing up and was quite fond of it. However, this version has a lot of quirks that make it almost unenjoyable to play: - For some reason, the game only detects the Shoot button when playing, so you can't switch weapons with it. There's a bomb button, but you can't unassign that. Theoretically, you can remap buttons in the options but again it only detects the A button. - Game resolution options don't quite fit/match screen - If you save your game multiple times, it creates a separate save each time. When you go to load, you can't tell them apart besides how much money you had when you saved it, so that's frustrating. If they could fix the above, I could recommend it, but as it is now you feel like you fighting it too much to really enjoy it.

I didn't own this when I was younger but the game itself is pretty good by its own merits. The only thing that really distinguishes this from other flying shooter games is the shop that lets you buy stronger weapons and shields. If you start from the lowest difficulty the game will gradually scale up to the hardest and you can use the money you've gained to buy better weapons and recharge your health and shields. If you play on the harder difficulties first you kind of need to farm items because enemies will obliterate you due to the fact that you are comparatively weak. The difficulty is sort of balanced, the only thing is that it took me about ten hours to actually figure out how to play it correctly. By that point the game actually becomes very easy, as you can farm a weapon that obliterates everything or just cycle through the stages until you have the cash to buy it. This version is smoother than the original version, but the achievements are horribly bugged. There are two in p...

Works. Unfortunately on modern systems there are some serious mouse issues and mouse is the ideal way to play. My fix has been playing the game on the minimal resolution and then scaling the game up with a 3rd party program. Steam has a couple. This isn't a true fix but I had better mouse control than playing the game with other settings.
