The pros: Very satisfying trading and resource supply-and-demand mechanics, complemented by well-integrated building, reputation management, and warfare aspects. The cons: Because it's an older game, after installation you'll need to follow an additional guide to set up the game files to run on modern OS. This can be frustrating, but it's worth the effort. The unexpected: There's a surprising amount of depth and variety to the gameplay. It successfully combines lots of different mechanics, which keep expanding in scope with each level of progression. The summary: Old but truly gold. One of the best Renaissance Period trading company simulators, as long as you forgive some of the old-school jank. Looks and feels its age nowadays (particularly the naval warfare), but honestly I find that adds to the charm more than anything else.

Playing this is a headache due to resolution problems, and Steam's version is somehow different from the GOG version, so the method to patch this version is different. The game is amazing, but it's unplayable as it is.
