You are probably looking at reviews to see if Dark Souls 2 is worth buying since the games launch its been shit on by so many people for so long (even including me for some time) but let me say most of the hate for this game is not justified at all, and while only have a very few mechanics that I actually agree. Dark Souls 2 isn't like the other souls games, more so its not like Dark Souls 1 or 3. I would say in the trilogy its by far the most complex and different in the series. And this is where a-lot of people get stumped or decide to hate the game, because it challenges them in a different way with different mechanics. Its not like Dark Souls 1 where dying is more forgiving, and unlike Dark Souls 3 which IMO was made much easier because of the backlash of Dark Souls 2. When you buy this game, and start playing, I'm not saying to forget everything you learned from Ds1 and Ds3, but keep in mind this games mechanics change so many things that if you aren't okay with adapting to, yo...

If you want to play Dark Souls 2, please go purchase the original. From my personal experience compared to the experience of some of my friends and online peers while playing the original Dark Souls 2, mine was hellishly worse. This game doesn't feel fair, and not in the "souls game" fashion, it doesn't feel fair in the sense that every area and enemy placed feels undeveloped and random. There are some rooms that are just a fucking cube, and there are an ungodly amount of enemies everywhere you go. Take for example the run-back that everyone on the internet cries about, the smelter demon run-back. It feels like shit, the level design itself isn't too bad, but the sheer amount of enemies there makes me question whether I should run past them, or fight them. And no matter what I did, I either still got hit or I died in the fog wall (which is another issue, but that's in both games. At this point everyone and their grandmother knows about the i-frame issues, that cow has been milked to de...

Some people believe this is the best Souls game FromSoft have done but people also believe a lot of ol' shite. This is by far the worst in the series. The bosses are piss poor, forgettable and easy. The enemy mobs present more of a challenge but they're tedious, much like the level design and the hitboxes + animations are janky ass garbage. Dark Souls II isn't fit to finger but hole its predecessor or successor.

The black sheep in the family of the Dark Souls Trilogy simply because it the original creator wasn't involved in any way. The game is lesser in some ways in terms of interconnected design and original ideas, but the overall experience is still a very enjoyable action RPG worth playing.

I have very few good things to say about ds2. pros: -Power Stancing -Build variety Cons: -Despite being a game from 2014, it runs worse than ds3 while sporting graphic fidelity worse than 2007 games -Combat is tantamount to backstab fishing the same 3 attacks, just in differing sizes and speeds -Hit boxes on enemy attacks are objectively horrendous, to such a point that attacks nowhere near you still nail you. -Adaptability being a necessity in order to obtain any sort of usage rolling is flawed in so very many ways -PvP boils down to who has the better lag switch Whilst the game has the most content of the 3 games, most areas are full of pointless tedium that they often feel barren of engagement -Action Queuing is the worst in this game compared to even og demon souls -The worst example of asset and design reuse via the gutter, black gulch, the sunken city dlc, shrine of amana, and earthern peak. Of the listed areas, 4 of 5 are poison based areas, with all of the dlc being poison -S...

I remember thinking this game was a massive disappointment when it first released. After a recent replay I'd say it's actually up there with the best souls games.

its hilarious how much people hate on this game when its literally just as simple as the others. just get 20 adaptability as fast as you can, even before leveling health, and you'll be fine! oh, and don't worry about human effigies, you'll get TONS of those. but really! its a great game! just as long as you don't mind banging your head into a wall a few times when you're so angry at the priestesses in the shrine of amana or getting beaten to the bell end up getting swarmed in the undead crypt. oh, and don't forget fighting the ancient dragon for 2 hours just to get the giant soul so you can fight vendrick. enjoy!
7.5/10
Some people didn’t really enjoy this game, but it took me around 40 hours to beat and I must say it wasn’t all that bad. Many suggest skipping it and going straight to Dark Souls 3, and story-wise that might make sense. Still, this game is definitely worth playing imo. You can even leave it for last and it will still feel enjoyable. Honestly, I don’t find it less fun than the other Souls titles. The only downside for me is that the bosses felt a bit repetitive.

I really genuinely gave this game a chance and I was a bit disappointed considering how much I love the first game. There are just so many enemies in every area and so much of this game feels like it was designed to make the player mad, rather than immerse them in the world. It sucks too because there are some great moments and ideas in this game, but the enemy placement ruins what would be a good game.
