About This Game

Pixel Pirates is a swashbuckling action-adventure where you play as James Flint, a sailor thrown into a fight against the cursed Captain Blackwood.

When your companion Clara is taken by Blackwood’s crew, you set sail across dangerous seas and treacherous islands to find her—before his dark ambitions can be fulfilled. Battle ruthless pirates, uncover secrets on handcrafted islands, hunt for treasure, and discover powerful relics in this byte-sized high-seas adventure.

Features:

  • Exploration  –  Set sail into the unknown, travel to other islands, avoid hazards on the water, and discover ancient mysteries.

  • Land Combat  –  Duel skeleton pirates, crabs, and sea urchins (with more enemy types in the works!).

  • Naval Combat  – Fire your cannons against opposition, and break apart Blackwood's defenses one piece at a time.

  • Treasure Hunts & Puzzles  –  Discover tools that grant you new abilities, uncover and decode cryptic riddles, and platform your way to treasure!

  • Ship Upgrades & Customization –  Upgrade your ship with stronger sails that will increase your ship's speed, reinforce your hull to take less damage, or simply purchase from a set of flags to personalize your look.

  • Quests - Accept and complete quests to move the story forward.

  • Trading – Find and trade with merchants to give you an edge in combat, or simply resupply.

  • Pirate's Gambit - Play a turn-based strategy minigame called Pirate's Gambit, where you'll perform various actions to attack or defend, using your stamina as a resource.

Will you rise to the challenge and put an end to Captain Blackwood’s reign of terror?

Or will you become just another shipwreck in the tide?

Prepare to set sail. Adventure awaits!

TLDR: Yes, I'm interested to see where this goes. ***Scroll to Bottom to See Updates*** This review is subject to change: Due to Steam only allowing 2 hours of gameplay before refunds start being denied; this review will be based off my first 2 hours of gameplay; and how I feel about it. Due to the gaming community having an issue with low gameplay hour reviews - they can go suck an egg, make it make sense booboo, I'm writing this for people who dunno if they wanna spend the money...not for folks who already think the game is perfect. The Story: 4/10 It's there in an unpolished, small team kind of way. It'll help you keep interested in the game but it's not something folks will be making lore videos about. The Ground Combat: 5/10 It has an Elden Ring vibe to it with invulnerability rolls but overall all it's a bit clunky and unrefined; especially the targeting system, because it will "let go" of targets too easily. You can easily get overwhelmed but you can just as easily goad 1 enem...

A fun indie game, miss quite a bit of content, but has quite a promising feature. Maybe wait for an update or two before purchasing it or do it while knowing that you'll have a couple of our before you (as of first ea release). Keep it up devs :)

This is a great game! You play as a stranded seafarer on an island, where you try to get back on sea and finally face "Blackwood", a ghost pirate of some sorts. It's quite short right now, but already is a lot of fun to run around, explore the islands, parts of the sea and towns. You also get to fight crabs and ghost pirates. Some riddles that are solvable and a bunch of platforming parts which are alright. Right now the sailing is super slow and a bit disappointing, but the devs already said that this will get fixed soon. Watch my full playthrough here: https://youtu.be/K9SGXcCh8PI
