This is a game that comes close to good but fails to hold together. There're just a lot of things that aren't explained well, or are poorly designed--for instance, there are crew members you can pick up. That's cool, but you can only have one at a time initially, upgrading to more is /extremely/ expensive, and a great deal of content is gated behind their abilities. You can't even store a few different ones to tediously return to the ship for--all crew not currently assigned as direct sidekicks are lost when you change islands. You find anywhere from 2-4 crew members per island and nearly all of them go to waste. Crew members can take damage and die, including from your own sword--and the way you move and swing and their idiot AI means you are hitting them /constantly/. Once, I had a crew member get stuck behind an obstacle and be unable to follow me closely. No problem, I figured. Surely the pathfinding algorithm will eventually teleport them back to me. Nope! Traveled to t...

The game as a great art style that matches the theme pretty well. The music is ok but all the song are pretty alike. It might be expected from a randomly generated tile base rogue-like, but still it was just enough for me to notice it. The camera positioning for me was a big problem. For some reason having the character a little bit more toward the top of the screen instead of in the middle or near the bottom gave me a bit of a head hick. Also, the tile are very repetitive in 3-4 island I already encounter tiles that were the same. As for the characters, they are just skins as far as I can tell, because they don't seam to have any personal abilities or strengths. Even if the game let you choose between controller or keyboard it is not really much of a choice since controlling the camera and your character is not intuitive with the keyboard. There is a progression system that let you hold more items or have more crew member following you helping by unlocking chest or building bridges, b...
The game is still buggy, right out of the gate and doesn't support any controllers other than the XBox 360 and playstation controllers. The button mappings on my Logitech F310 are completely scrambled.
This game was way too hard for how simple it was. I finally beat the first island, only to die on the second to discover that you don't just go to the start of that island, you go back to the start of the entire game. Nope, no thank you.
Gameplay here: https://www.twitch.tv/planktonvomit/v/109531118 Cool little game I picked up during Steam 2016 Holiday Sale. I didn't die once but from the description it seems like it has rogue-like permadeath mechanics. Fair warning: It does not support mouse at all and recommends that players use controllers 100% of the time. Keyboard controls weren't to my liking. Gameplay seems cool to me but this game isn't my cup of tea. If you are in to this kind of game, I think it is worth the price during a sale. I'm still going to recommend it since it would be unfair to downvote a game based on my misunderstanding. Cheers.
A tedious game, incredibly repetitious and lacking any depth. The game's graphical style and quality are decent, and here and there parts of the gameplay show promise if further polished, but none of that promise is realized. The game's procedural generation can only barely be called that. Maps are nominally 'randomized', but because all maps are composed of a small set of pre-created map-chunks haphazardly pasted together, soon there is no feeling of exploring new places, but rather a feeling of trudging endlessly through places the player has seen a dozen times before. Even with movement-related abilities fully upgraded, movement takes place at an agonizingly slow pace that leaves the player mindlessly circling the edge of island after island, each one offering no meaningful difference from the ones before. The game's mechanics are incredibly shallow. Each enemy has only a single attack/behavior pattern, except for boss fights (and even _boss fights_ are reused from island chain t...
A good little roguelike hack and slash. The graphics are cool and colorist, but even though there isn't much diversity of elements to see, demand excesive hardware or the screen can freezes causing the deletion of the save file if program is closed by force. Also have another issue, the Keyboard only can be binded by editing a file (check Steam forums). Very simple mechanics: by getting experience and gold coins, player can unblocks skills, space for inventory and crew that works as powerups. Combat is easy but it getting hard by stages, is based on the fact that player haven´t a ranged weapon to use at will and many foes has ranged attacks. Gameplay strongly depends on speed that player can get by upgrading skills. It has randomized maps based on modular design, but there are few varieties and are quite similar. The luck maths and dificulty curvature are very well balanced, a very rare qualities in this genre. The foes are well depicted, but some haven't much relation with the plo...
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could pla...

Default control settings - got to edit a config file - no problem Permadeath - ok, maybe, but first fights can be quite hard, no blocking or shield or escape move Gaphics are pretty refreshing and action can be tricky. Fights quickly become a bit of a fun challenge like a fight in Zelda - you have to get a good strategy for each enemy kind. Will update my comment upon further playing.
