About This Game

Purchase comes with the exclusive SteamBot3000 Character Skin with unique death animation, 2,000 Town Points ($8 Value) and you will earn double Merit Points forever!

Town of Salem is a fresh innovation on the classic party games Mafia and Werewolf. It is a game of murder, accusations, deceit and mob hysteria.

How To Play

The game ranges from 7 to 15 players. These players are randomly divided into alignments - Town, Mafia, Serial Killers, Arsonists and Neutrals. If you are a Town member (the good guys) you must track down the Mafia and other villains before they kill you. The catch? You don't know who is a Town member and who is a villain.

If you are an evil role, such as a Serial Killer, you secretly murder town members in the veil of night and try to avoid getting caught.

Roles

Town of Salem has 33 unique roles ensuring a different experience each time you play.

Before a game starts, players are put into a lobby where the host can select what roles will be in the game. Players are then assigned roles at random from the list of chosen roles. Players have an in-game role card that explains their role's abilities and alignments. For an in-depth look at the abilities of each role please visit:

Game Phases

Night

The night phase is when most roles use their abilities. For example, Serial Killers stealthily murder people, Doctors heal people who are attacked, and Sheriffs interrogate people for suspicious activity.

Day

The day phase allows the Town members to discuss who they suspect of being an evil role. Once the voting phase starts a majority vote from the town will put someone on trial.

Defense

The defense phase is when you plead your innocence to the town. Have a convincing story or find yourself facing the gallows!

Judgement

During this phase the town will vote on the fate of the defendant. Players can vote guilty, innocent or abstain. If there are more guilty votes than innocent votes the defendant is sentenced to death by hanging!

Customization

Players are able to choose their own map (town setting), character, pet, lobby icon, death animation, house and a custom name. The other players in the game will see your selections. There are currently 10 maps, 29 characters, 20 pets, 5 death animations and 20 houses to choose from.

Achievements

There are currently over 220 unique achievements in the game. Earning achievements will grant various in-game items (however the items for donation rewards are exclusive to Kickstarter).

Putting a negative review simply because I disagree with the way they moderate the game. Their approach to banning is "if you make 4 mistakes within your entire playtime, you are permanently banned. Also, we can make any infraction count multiple times at our discretion." (Hint: exactly what happened) I believe the game itself is good, but I also believe there is a severe disconnect between the devs & moderators to their playerbase. They do not care about context. They do not care about loyalty. You'd think a smaller company would. And for those who are curious, what had happened is someone convinced me to show trial keys to the game while I was streaming. They then (presumably) proceeded to do some not-so-friendly actions on the accounts they made with those keys. I understand what I did was wrong, but they gave me all four strikes from that singular incident after 700 hours of playtime. You think they would do better.

Game is unplayable at most times of the day. So little people playing it takes longer to find a match than it takes to play. And that's if you managed to make it to the end of the lobby. But beyond that, you have just as much chance to have people throwing that you used to in its hayday. Moderators are more worried about perma-banning people they don't like vs actually moderating the game. People who spam slurs every game? Mass reported? Their accounts stay active for days and then when they finally get banned they just make a new one and come back. Real players make a bad play, perma banned immediately. Make an insensitive joke, perma-banned. Apparently spamming all n words must die isn't as bad as referencing Palestine, as my friend just recently learned who lost their 11 year old account. Zero active or passed marks on the account. Just straight perma'd. A report I looked at had a guy trying the friendly werewolf strategy, a fully viable strategy as I've won games with it myself...

If you troll in this game you will not be banned. You can ragebait every person, you can troll, you can leave the game but if you use f word for once you will be banned PERMANENT :D The moderators of this game must be high and should focus on the game. Its full of trollers and afk persons just to troll. FIX YOUR GODDAMN GAME.

Game used to be fun. Plagued by gamethrowers and cheaters nowadays. If you aren't in discord with a group sharing roles good luck playing.

Good game, the mods are trash. Gamethrowing gets ignored, one time i told an Israeli he was supporting genocide and I get banned.

If you care about your mental health, don't play this game. The br@1nl3ss villagers will drive you crazy. The game is full of 1d10ts, and that's why my account got banned in the end, along with all my costumes and other stuff. If you're not a truly patient person, don't even start, or you'll go mad seeing how stup1d people can be.

Game is good, Moderators of the game are a big disappointment. Rather then doing something against the botting, they ban others for apparently "cheating" because you manage to do something like hanging your target D2 as an exe or smthg Good game, bad mods
