About This Game

Welcome to Embers Adrift, Drifter! You've escaped the war-torn lands of the south by choosing to take your chances in the dreaded Darklands. After a grueling journey that has left your body wounded and your mind and memories scattered you discover the Great Chasm and a single solitary rope-bridge spanning across it. You hear pleasant tones inviting you across the bridge and discover drifter's landing. Not everyone escapes the Darklands, only the strong. You discover the City of Newhaven and its struggling inhabitants. After recovering with their help it is your turn to help them survive! Enter the lands north of the Old Wall, fight the Exiles who plot against your new home, discover old ruins and dungeons with untold treasures and fearsome monsters, and uncover the secrets of Ember - the source of powerful magic!

Embers Adrift is a unique fantasy PvE MMORPG with limited PvP in the arena. Whether you prefer solo play or group play there is something for everyone. Group-based content will bring you into the deepest, darkest corners of the world where the strongest monsters and loot can be found, while solo-content offers its own dangers and rare loot. Fight to level 50 and discover the unique progression our end-game content offers. Embers Adrift focuses on community, challenging content, immersion, rich lore, campaign-like quests sometimes with various endings, and is built on design principles found in classic MMOs. We hope you enjoy your stay in Embers Adrift.

after hearing the words "no magic, boring, grindy, ai slop, no population" i thought i'd see for myself. and well, the grind didn't bother me. no magic fantasy didn't bother me. the subscription-thing didn't bother me. and even with about 21 total players on during my sessions, it still felt like a lil' mmorpg. but..... .......as i played more of the game, the problems emerged. in my opinion, the game runs poorly, plays poorly, and progresses poorly. the writing is silly, as in sometimes my character automatically addressed shopkeepers with a strange comedic glee, hardly fit for a "warlord" character. anyway, i fought rats until level 10, bats until level 14, more rats more bats, and so on. the only talent tree-like system i found was a journal that seemed to keep track of how many rats and bats i killed. when you kill 1000 bats you get a title. leveling felt like a poor slog of grinding rats and bats repeatedly. i thought i'd make leveling faster when i formed a group of three p...

Can a game with nearly no active players, with an abysmal retention rate fairly call itself an MMORPG? Maybe if the change the meaning of the first M to Minimally. But don't be fooled. Seems like most of the extra small community are very nice people. But many of them don't really want to see the game succeed, as it would mean changing things about the game that they want to remain the same. Note to Devs: Try to remember that a game does need to actually focus on providing a fun experience of a large enough audience to make it "minimally" viable from a player base standpoint when its all designed for group only play. Also, since on your own website you say the client is $20 and a sub is $10 (rounding)... a sub I would assume is for 30 days. But here on steam you say the sub is optional, but charge $30 and don't include a full month sub... seems like a rip off. Best of luck to the community.

Crashes after a few minutes every time. I have only seen 1 or 2 other players and they were not social at all.

This game is so far removed from what it claims to be that its "mostly positive" calls into question the voracity of Steam's review system.

I think the game is overall good. It is a lot slow though. It reminds me of new world... why? humans and animals not to many monsters. 60-80 people play this game... the reason why? too darn slow to level.. world is huge... walking is also too darn slow... too many group creatures... ie you get ganked by a group monster a couple times a day... quite frustrating... no really good loot as a solo player. it does have an auction house ...positive. Outragious prices by greedy people. so hard to get loot even with money. Guilds are awesome and provide a great community. Do I think it is worth it to play? I do, even as a solo player... it has the correct mmorpg cycle.. fighting is repetitive but has a great feel to it. Classes... Hmm tried all 9 classes and they seem not well thought out.. kinda blaa. No magic users so if you like wizard not in the game. No races for classes, all the same races. This kind of ruins the emersion as it follows new world and sucks to me. The biggest problem for ...

Only 50 hours played. Games like this make me sad. From the outset - the game looks outdated and janky... and to a degree it is. However, the game mechanics and content seems extremely solid - and it looks like it has regular updates. I came over to play with a static group already formed. One of our team decided it wasnt for him; but otherwise we all like it. The customisation in crafting is intuitive and beneficial. Tradeskill values matter. Probably more for solo players - It seems most group content provides better items. The class structure seems broad with meaningful differences. As I said, this type of game makes me sad as its obvious a lot of effort has gone into this game but it simply doesnt have a huge player-base. Its a good game. Its not expensive, and you should get your monies worth.

(I have way more hours on this game outside of Steam) If you're looking for a feature-rich modern MMO, this isn't it. This game doesn't have that depth of features or breadth of content. But if you still enjoy the experience of playing classic MMO's, you might enjoy this one. I'd actually say it's closer to early EQ2 than EQ in ethos, though it's probably more accurate to say it's somewhere between a modern MMO and a throwback game. For those who are wondering, solo play is quite possible, but it requires care and caution, and you're probably far better off grouping up. Being a little more harsh, no one aspect of the game is particularly great, and the game has some downsides. Performance still isn't good, the story isn't good enough for those looking for a story-driven game, and combat feel could stand to be improved. But on the whole, it's a solid game with its own charm, and it will definitely scratch an itch for some people.

Love Embers! The game is great, progress is slow but very satisfying and rewarding especially when grouped up. Heavily reliant on party play to experience the great content the game offers, which is awesome if the game had a bigger population. Embers truly offers a great immersive MMO experience that pushes you to explore, adventure, and pay attention to detail throughout your adventure. The game is not easy to pickup and there is a bit of a learning curve to begin to grasp the true experience and fall in love with your character development. I think the Devs can do a better job at educating newcomers so the intro experience does not push people away due to its difficulty (not saying to water THE game down, because i do like the difficulty personally). ENJOYABLE GAMES DONT HAVE TO BE EASY, OVERCOMING DIFFICULTY IS REWARDING AND SATISFYING BUT WE NEED TO RECOGNIZE THIS IS NOT THE 2000'S AND PEOPLE ATTENTION SPANS ARE SHORT THESE DAYS. Embers really is an incredible game and i thin...
