This one really reminds me of ye olde Higurashi sound novels, for all the best reasons. The heartfelt writing, the dark background radiation of something sinister occurring just out of view, occasionally broken up by bouts of levity, the blurry backgrounds, the over-the-top boom sound effects when a character says something outrageous. It makes my heart melt. Sound design overall is really quite good! All the UI actions have their own specific sound, and it's all informed by old analogue technology. The writing is good, the characters are cute and act in a relatable, human fashion. The voice of the narration is quite good and consistent. While the overall narrative and mystery of the story is just backdrop, after all, the moment-to-moment writing makes up for it. The music is great!! I have a special place in my heart for any piece of music that incorporates analogue sounds (klicking, beeping, etc.) into their soundtracks, but the other tracks that were more traditional are also ...
