About This Game

Years into a brutal lockdown, a once-thriving city lies in ruins, abandoned by its government and overrun by vicious, mindless infected. Those left behind are treated as human waste, discarded in a world that no longer cares. The government enforces the quarantine with ruthless precision, sending hazmat teams into the city to kill anyone who remains—infected or not—in an effort to contain the outbreak and secure something far more dangerous hidden within the city.

You play as Sam, a former urban planner, one of the few left alive. With intimate knowledge of the city’s crumbling infrastructure, Sam must navigate both the decaying streets above and the dangerous underground—a maze of trash-filled sewers, forgotten tunnels, and abandoned subways. But no matter where you go, danger awaits. The infected roam mindlessly, bandits hunt survivors, and government hazmat teams sweep through, eliminating anyone in their path as they carry out their deadly mission. Every step brings you closer to escape… or to your end.

Dead Trash is a dark, visceral first-person action game evocative of 1980s Video Nasties. With a heavy emphasis on brutal melee combat and grim exploration, Dead Trash will welcome you into its unsettling world, and you feel like you are being watched. Grab your hammer, collect your nerves and enter the mayhem.

A game that borrows more than a few conceptual elements from the Troma film Street Trash, Dead Trash takes place in a city that has fallen to ruin in the wake of a pandemic that was totally mismanaged by the federal government. The streets are overrun with violent atomized people, and the secret to what really happened to this place lie somewhere within the sewers...Coming to us from Crowhill Studios is a delightfully nasty FPS game in which you play a former urban planner by the name of Sam, and possibly the only non-infected person left in the city, fighting to survive and tearing apart garbage bags for resources. You have a plethora of enemies to deal with, and for the most part, many of your enemies can be dealt with via the axe weapon - but make no mistake, it is not feasible to kill ALL of your enemies with melee strikes. Your most striking weapon is the dual-wielded nail guns you retrieve early on which functions as your hitstun weapon for most encounters. The traversal and sign...

"Mindless" is a pejorative frequently used to describe shooters that lack any gameplay complexity and require little to no skill in order to play through. "Dead Trash" is a mindless shooter. However, I did not mind it being one. In fact, I quite enjoyed it! Possibly due to the timing, where my life is stressful and requires much effort and attention to various challenges, Dead Trash was able to bypass my critical barriers and allow me to have the simple fun of pointing the mouse cursor at sprites and pressing the left mouse button over and over and over again. However, it was able to do so due to its qualities. No, it does not have sophisticated balance to challenge the player in any meaningful way. But it feels good to shoot random hobos and bozos in it. Weapons are drawn well, satisfyingly animated, and have impactful sound design and special effects. Upon being hit, enemies show a reaction, albeit simple, and emit tons of blood particles. If you come close to an enemy and blast it...

My expectations for a $3 game were pretty low, especially for a retro shooter, since the genre is quite saturated nowadays. But I was genuinely surprised in the best way. So what is this game about? Imagine mixing 80s B-movies like Street Trash (1987) and The Toxic Avenger (1984) with 90s shooters like Rise of the Triad (1994) or Last Rites (1997), and the result is Dead Trash. Visually, unlike many retro fps rip offs, it really feels authentic, almost like if someone told me this was a remaster of some forgotten Eastern European Duke Nukem clone, I’d probably believe it. And the gameplay? Surprisingly addictive. There’s a solid variety of guns, most of them feel powerful, and there are even two melee weapons. The axe, while divisive to some, is actually usable even in the late game. I find the mechanics behind it quite good, it’s just a matter of learning the timing. The enemies are also quite well designed. For example, the firearm-wielding ones are easy to recognize, often...

Games pretty good. There's love and effort put into it. Some things need to be touched up a bit (enemy AI, weapons, boss fights, etc.) But regardless, it's still worth checking out.

It started out very good, but the level design became extremely boring when entering the sewer sections. The game doesn't recover from this point, and it just devolves further from there. The weapons look, sound and feel great to use, although this is enough to save DEAD TRASH from the previously mentioned faults.
