• An atmosphere of unknowable horror

***

In the aftermath of a global cataclysm, the harbor authorities reactivated an ancient lighthouse, hoping to keep the seas navigable amidst the growing chaos. A lone keeper is dispatched to the forsaken island, tasked with manning the beacon. The fate of passing vessels and the nearby town now rests in his hands. Far away, a wife and daughter wait for his return.

***

Each night, his duties grow more perilous. Mariners report encounters with creatures beyond the reach of science. Ships drift back from distant waters - empty, their crews vanished without a trace. In the island’s fishing village, the locals whisper prayers to sea gods and perform rituals to raise the dead.

Will the keeper preserve his sanity, protect those he loves, and guide the vessels entrusted to him through the abyss? Or will he, too, be lost to the dark tides gathering beneath the surface of the world?

don't like horror genre nowadays because of the shouting screamers around my tiktok page but here is the MY LEVEL of scariness. IF you dont like the jumpscare - it's your game. If you like STORY game - it's your game. Personally recommend.

Lovecraft, Lighthouse, Horror isn't it the combo you are looking for these days? Dive into this game and can surely say IT'S DAMN GOOD. As a Lovecraft lover I'm happy that someone tried to describe the indescribable thing and create this level of atmosphere in the game. I don't like jumpscare so I was satisfied 100% with the horror part and really enjoyed the story.

It's essentially 'Papers, Please' meets 'Voices of the Void' with a Lovecraftian theme on easy mode. It doesn't feel like there is a time limit like in Papers so you can take your time verifying everything. It's a bit creepy, nothing far too scary yet (i'm on night 9). The art is cool, the sound design is good, but I just find it so so easy that I can only recommend it to people who really, really like Lovecraft type games. I'll certainly be following solarsuit for their future titles because I think this is a decent first foray. 70/100 it's fine, kept me interested but it just didn't get complex enough for me by day 9.
The main thing is to keep the light inside your soul.
As a huge fan of Firewatch and Papers, Please, I was enchanted by this game at first sight.
Plot.
Due to bad weather, the city authorities decided to restart reopen an abandoned lighthouse on a nearby island. That wouldn’t be a problem—except the last lighthouse keeper disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Can our hero overcome the challenges ahead and unravel the island’s dark secrets?
Gameplay.
As you’ve probably guessed, we’ll be inside a small lighthouse. Our main task is to respond to radio signals daily and guide ships to safe harbors. However, everyone will try to convince us to bend the rules—local villagers, drug mafia and even forces of darkness will seek to manipulate us for their own ends. Will you choose the honest path… or give in to temptation? While making these choices, you’ll also need to open the door for visitors and cleanse the house of cre...

This game has a shocking amount of length to it, and I'm really enjoying the story. Not much of a horror experience though, for anyone looking primarily for horror. I'd say horror takes the backseat to narrative, which isn't a bad thing here.

Nice eldritch/Lovecraftian story. Horror elements are however limited and repetitive, you won't be "scared" for long, however the atmosphere is very well done and will keep you at the point of your chair. If you really want to be difficult regarding this game you could say it has more elements of a visual novel than of a typical horror game. The art is charming, sound and ambience excellent.

Do you recommend this game? - Yes. Did I enjoy the game? - No. The positives - really good sound design that pulls you into the atmosphere. The whole concept of guiding ships using the forms is pretty cool too, with the constantly changing tasks. But that's about where the good stuff ends. I played either the beta or alpha, can't remember exactly. Pretty much everything's changed since then and they've added new mechanics. In my opinion, it was scarier back then, and it drew you in deeper while being more straightforward. Don't get me wrong, the game turned out decent enough, but it's missing that special something it used to have. My expectations were totally different - I was hoping for something genuinely creepier, not just this "answer the radio, turn on your flashlight, fix random stuff" routine. All the "scary" stuff that happens is just the lights going out on their own or some tentacles popping up that you just blind with your flashlight. Pretty boring stuff. And the locati...

Amazing game! I love the atmosphere and the art of awesome. I am not a fan of jumpscare horror games as I find them cheap most of the time, but this game does horror well there are no real jumpscares its mostly atmospheric and mostly suggested from radio broadcasts or seeing something creepy outside a window. I really hope the Devs add more to this game as I feel its a little short or maybe making a squeal. Awesome job!

8/15/25: Alright alright, credit where it is due. There was an update pushed today that addressed some complaints I had. The water animation is no longer painful (though I don't know that I would call the effect it had on me "motion sickness"...) and the entities don't break junk anymore. I imagine people will now request these to be made a toggle, but I'm not about to join yet another discord server just to see how the vocal part of the community feels. I'll leave the original review below, but it's becoming kind of a mess and I'm too lazy right now to make it pretty. Take it for what you will. Original review and edits below: It's fine [strike](only due to the price)[/strike], but [strike]"Lovecraft meets Papers, Please" is not even remotely true.[/strike] I'm at day 6 (out of 15?) and have not had to actually inspect a document a single time. This is more of a not very scary story with very, very simple gameplay. A few other issues off the top of my head: - No key rebinding? S...

Static Dread – The Lighthouse is one of those games that makes you wish Steam had a rating between “Yeah, sure” and “Please, end!” It begins with an awesome setup: creepy cosmic horror, looming dread, strange happenings. By day 3, though, it morphed into the world’s most cursed night shift at a haunted Home Depot. The game literally forces you into a 14-day contract, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and no—you don’t get overtime. Your daily duties include: 1. Answering radio calls and guiding ships (sometimes fun, until you start hoping they all just sink). 2. Answering the door to nightmare fuel NPCs (easily the highlight—nothing says hospitality like inviting in Cthulhu’s extended family). 3. Removing cobwebs because apparently spiders are the true eldritch horror. 4. Scrubbing off demonic “crayon art”—my sanity didn’t degrade, but my patience did. 5. Burning shadow tentacles with your flashlight like you’re working crowd control at a rave. 6. Re-hanging paintings that...
