About This Game

Take control of one of five playable characters in the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 4, the ultimate version of the smash-hit stylish action game!

Devil May Cry 4 immerses gamers in a gothic supernatural world, where a new protagonist clashes with a familiar hero. As the new leading man, Nero, players will unleash incredible attacks and non-stop combos using a unique new gameplay mechanic, his powerful "Devil Bringer" arm.

On the coast of a distant land lies the castle town of Fortuna. It is here that the group known as the Order of the Sword practices a mysterious religion. They revere the demon warrior Sparda, who as their god fought to protect humans, and are committed to the extermination of all demons. Nero, a young knight from the Order, is tasked with finding Dante, the mysterious assassin who murdered the head of the Order of the Sword. At the same time, more demons begin to appear throughout the city. Nero will soon come to discover the motives behind Dante's appearance and the truth behind the intentions of the Order of the Sword.

Had to use an HEX editor just to make the game playable. This isn't acceptable Capcom needs to issue an actual fix or clearly indicate that the game is broken on Windows 11. If like me the game crashes on startup follow this guide. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3419988271 Obviously my review will turn positive as soon as Capcom issues a proper patch that fixes the issue. If I forget feel free to remind me in the comments.

The game is really good and I played it before on the Xbox. The problem with the Steam port, is that I couldn't get pass the "ERRO8 memory overrun" error. I did everything I could to fix it, but I couldn't. Please for the love of god, Fix this!

Story is great and I really enjoy the game play. My only issue, and it's a pretty big issue, is the optimization. I have to play it on the lowest settings and turn off Discord Overlay, or else it will crash with a "memory overrun" error. I got it on sale and I would recommend only buying it on sale. It sucks that this issue hasn't been solved even after 10 years post-remaster.

i cant say i loved this one but i also cant say i rly hated it cuz i was totally on board up till like mission 12 or sth, yk what i mean. Its just a little disjointed, nowhere near as tight as dmc3. i honestly thought it was gonna be as good as dmc3 up till then, but once the backtracking started kicking in i realized that this game is just stretched wayyy too thin. the combat is deep and engaging but you end up fighting the same enemies and bosses most of the time, and it kinda lacks the variety in weapon choice that made dmc3 so fun to mix and match with. still nero is really great to play and despite the backtracking i did have a lot of fun playing dante, also Lady being playable is like the best shes my fav character in anything ever (ive never felt more seen than in a slutty badass bob girl with. giant rocket launcher). just that as cool as playing lady/trish is you end up doing the same levels you already did prolly like twice in one playthrough alone, and the game just cant carr...

literally just go play vanilla. This version runs so much worse than vanilla, and it doesn't even launch properly unless you mod it since Capcom borked the exe in an older patch and never bothered to fix it.

The game itself is alright, plenty of fun and will run on a potato. But it's a buggy mess of a port that will crash if you look at it funny. I'm serious. This game will crash if you: -Use an overlay like steam chat or an fps counter -Switch to another window -Connect or disconnect a peripheral -Switch screens -Leave it paused for more than a minute Worse than that, the only way to consistently reset the game after a crash is to kill the program in task manager or restart your computer because crashes cause the program to become unresponsive! I'm admittedly writing this review out of anger after crashing following the mission 11 and mission 13 bosses... back to back. I still think this is a good game underneath the problems, be prepared to fight your computer in order to play it on steam.

I am sorry to say that this version of the game is simply too unreliable. There are several known issues relating to newer PCs and operating systems. Personally, I experienced frequent ERR08 crashes, which occur when the game takes up too much RAM. Why does this happen? Is it Windows' fault, is it an issue with higher resolutions? Nobody knows! I was only able to get to mission 10 before I tried to use a third-party patch for the game that just broke it. It sucks, because the game is genuinely really good (aside from the upgrade system) but it's just too unstable If you want DMC for your PC or Steam Deck. 5 and the HD Collection are much more worth it. I've never run into these kinds of issues with those two games. Edit: There IS a workaround, but it requires third-party software, so my opinion remains unchanged. Don't spend your money on this.
