NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black

It's been a while since I touched Ninja Gaiden 2; I played the PS3 release of this back in the day but had forgotten most of the game. NGB2 is a solid game and a pretty good port (only minor slowdown in a handful of very visually intensive areas, nice graphical updates). What's interesting visiting it in 2025 is how it's very much a time capsule to character action games from the late 2000s, and a reminder of how much it feels good to just sit down and play an action title that's very distinctly not Souls inspired (linear levels with points of no return, limited item resources, no stamina bars, no ammo management, no enemy respawns, blocking and dodging on the same button, etc). NGB2 is also just awash in the kind of edginess from that era that was very common but extremely heavily trafficked in by Team Ninja - hilariously disproportionate gore and dismemberment, a variety of weapons you're swinging around at physics defying speeds, incredibly impractical outfits on the female cha...

The combat in this game is phenomenal—fast, intense, and endlessly satisfying. The variety of weapons and combos makes every battle feel fresh, and it’s the main reason I kept coming back for more. Unfortunately, the game also suffers from serious issues. The camera often works against you, platforming sections feel clunky, and some boss fights are frustratingly unbalanced. The final chapter is especially punishing, forcing you into consecutive boss battles without any chance to recover. Despite these flaws, I can’t give Ninja Gaiden 2 Black a negative review—the combat is simply too good to ignore, supported by solid music and visuals.

It's just like Ninja Gaiden 2 from PS3 Sigma version rather than xbox360 version, Enemies wouldn't spawn much but it's enhanced graphics. No Statue of Liberty boss in Chapter 1 and Chapter 4 from Sigma version but it has Ayane, Momiji, Rachel's side stories. If you have never played Ninja Gaiden 2 before, This game is worth it between $35-$40 as a new game for you, but if you have played before both in xbox360 or Sigma version, I suggest to wait for NG4 released. The price of this game would be dropped to proper and cheaper.

Classic hack-n-slash. Holds up after all these years and still just as fun. Run around as a ninja and let the limbs. There is a lot of rebalancing with fights in almost every chapter. Really nice with this version of the game and an amazing remaster.

This black version is fine, I've played both ninja gaiden on xbox original and 360. I even bought an xbox one X specifically to play them. I haven't played them for a long time now and I didn't bought the sigma version since apparently they are worse but this one is good imo. Graphics are much improved (obviously), it runs well enough (for a UE game), I use an engine.ini file to reduce input lag and fix some issues. It's standard UE behaviour, lumen is kinda noisy, some textures appears too late, raytracing (hardware I guess) is quite heavy and not worth it imo. But overall it's great honestly. Combat is as good as ever, there is fewer enemies comparing the old version but it's still a blast to play. It remains sublime and one of the best, fast, lethal and gory, there is not many games like this nowadays. Platforming and swimming are still pretty bad (luckily there is not much). Bosses are awful. Story is pretty useless as usual. It's nice they included the other characters, more conte...

Games in 2025 shouldn't have unskippable cutscenes before boss fights...especially if you might have to try to win multiple times. This is especially baffling in this game since most of the cutscenes in this game are able to be skipped.

Super fun, super good It's UE5 though so expect some shoddy performance here or there.

Like reliving a core memory.....with extra weapons and missions featuring big breasted Kunoichi with entirely unique playstyles. Also one of my all time favorite soundtracks

I don't like UE5.

The gear section at the end of Chapter 10 is so much fun!
