The game is okay I guess, but it lacks so much depth due to it's reliance on chat GPT, which actually hurts the characters rather than improve it. What makes escape rooms fun such as doing puzzles and collecting items, is just ignored in this game and replaced with spending most of your time sucking up to chat GPT so that they let you leave. The problem is, sometimes you'll say one sentence and you'll win, and it'll have nothing to do with the story Sometimes you say hello, and the NPC kills you I like the idea of AI enhancing some of the conversations you have with NPCs but that technology is so far away. This game could at least have some mechanics to it outside of just typing to the NPCs

TLDR; Have fun playing an escape room game of sorts with AI and don't take the horror label too seriously. AI Asylum is more or less an escape room game, but it brings two things together that I love: AI and role play. I have sincerely longed for the opportunity to play more games with AI, so this appeals to me that I can enjoy one of my most cherished hobbies in writing narratives with them. This is a game that allows you to have conversations with AI who have different set personalities as patients in an asylum. I have concluded that the goal is to try to understand each personality as quickly as possible and speak to them in a way that will resonate with them in order to escape their room with your life. There is a gauge called “favor” that measures how the patient feels after each dialogue you submit, so you need to make sure you keep the scales tipped toward a positive perception of you and you might escape. I say might because you can earn a lot of favor, but still get murde...
Idea is cool, but game is too raw.
Such a brilliant idea! The game is still work in progress, but the AI investigation (& the creation of your own stories!!!) are a very interesting new concept! It contains different levels for each main character, rankings & stats depending how much time you took and how many stuff you unconvered about the villain characters. There are multiple characters to choose from, other than the “campaign with levels”, also made from other players. The creation tool is fun, as you can personalize your villain, make its story, and share it thru the community. It’s pretty fun! Please keep updating and add new stuff to this game! It’s a very interesting new genre! :)
*Update 4/24/25: There have been no additional updates or improvements since Jan '25. More and more, it is looking like a cash grab, and I do not understand why. The models are fine, and it seemed to me like an honest attempt was put forward. However, at present, I can't justify buying this over 'AI Rouglite'. I can scarcely justify buying it over other AI titles that are now becoming more and more consistent on Steam. Changing the recommendation until something is actually done with it. *Original Review* I love AI games, text adventures, and dungeon-crawls; they are a blast and get the imagination going. This, however, is a rough review for me because I want to encourage AI use in video games; the potential is so incredible, but it's just not being used well... at least not everywhere, not yet. This game clearly had 'some' TLC go into its design, and I find it hard to hate on an honest attempt. However, it's really not very good. The controls are unclear, and it just feels really l...
As with all Ai's there is a significant challenge in creating a character of your own. Although if you use a pre-made character, then it depends on how well said character was made for whether or not the game is good. For a pure play-through if you are not a fan of creating, there is a few different characters to choose from, and while the conversations are short, it is non the less quite interesting. The difficulty levels also vary, creating diversity in gameplay. The selection of characters --their looks especially-- is limited and not all that good. Doubly so if the character is male. (For some reason it has more hot females than hot men. Might say something about the creators....) The concept is nothing short of genious, however. And considering how recently this game was released, I have high hopes that it's creators plan to improve upon the game and address any flaws it may have. The Ai technology is still in it's infancy, and it keeps getting better every day...
Well this is pretty much an escape room game from what I've played thus far. Not too bad of one either. I was tasked with findin clues within a time limit in order to escape while the captor was present. The captor is an AI that ya can talk to in game via mic or just the text chat. The game ran fine and graphically it's solid. I didn't get to mess around with any character editors etc. A lot of replayability for the price tag. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/jb6v23dvFuU
