This will fix the lag for anyone Please Note that this game only lags for people that have a CPU with over 8 Threads if you are one of these people and you are experiencing lag it is likely due to something else. First Method - Go to C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Attila\scripts and open preferences.script.txt. From there you have to search for number_of_threads 0 and replace that 0 with the amount of threads your CPU has. Second Method - Do the same as the first but instead of putting the number of thread your CPU has just put 7 or 8 Third Method (GAME MUST BE OPENED) - This is what I did and is THE BEST WAY TO FIX ANY LAG (with in reason 10k troops gonna lag even with any of these methods), download process lasso once downloaded there will be a tab at the top (Active Processes) there you will find Attila.exe right click it then hover over CPU Affinity - Always - Select CPU Affinity, then un tick every CPU box above 7 and enjoy :). Total war warhammer 3 works for me with no problem, but this game just doesn't work, every action takes 15 sec and lag just freezez the game, game was unplayable for me.

A 7950x3D/4080 Super set-up can run the newest Battlefield on 4K with 70+ FPS — but not this ten year old game.
The best historical Total War game!
I really want to enjoy this game it’s my favorite timeline but the poor optimization makes it unplayable. I’m stuck with low FPS and constant crashes, even on decent specs. Please fix this, because I’d happily buy it again if it ran smoothly.
