First and foremost I did not get this game for free I paid 20 bucks for it, so idk why steam saying I got it free. Second I fucking love this game. The base game is pretty chill but you are gonna wanna mod it for the best experience, good mods being total conversions. in my opinion the Awakening of the Rebellion mod by is by far the best galactic civil war mod, say u just wanna crush the rebellion with the iron fist of imperial war machine's, or rise against imperial tyranny and fight tooth and nail in a wide spread gorilla like war. There are a few good mods if u get doped out by clone wars shi, personally I prefer republic at war because it captures the struggle of the republic to stay afloat amidst the droid onslaught, while also allowing you to take control of said onslaught in a just a pretty dope way. Fall of the Republic is also very well done, and the mod that is literally called The Clone Wars is pretty fun too. lastly and surely not least is the Thrawn's Revenge mod which is...

Me and my friends love playing with mods and this game has some really good mods at that.

Star Wars: Empire at War may be 19 years old, but it still holds up as a fantastic strategy game. The base game itself is great, especially for first-time players, but the real magic begins once you dive into the modding community. With massive overhauls like *Thrawn’s Revenge* and *Awakening of the Rebellion*, it can feel like playing an entirely new game. What’s even more impressive is that Petroglyph, the original developers, still release occasional updates, which only expands the possibilities for modders. I’d recommend starting with the base game’s story to get the full experience, and then moving on to the mods for a fresh and endlessly replayable take on the galaxy far, far away.

I have always loved this game. Deploying the fleets is a rarely seeing aspect of Star Wars.

i remember getting this game that was part in a star wars the best of PC disc from target back in 2007. played it and enjoyed it a lot. my brother went the high seas to get the expansion pack for the game since our family was poor. best experience ever. pros: easy to get into tutorial is easy to follow and simplifies the game campaign lets you play as empire, rebel and zann consortium space battles fun and somewhat challenging each faction is unique, they all have their pros and cons on how to acquire tech cons: there's not a lot of cons but i'll try to to bring them up the computer can cheat and somehow build up a big army (the AI is sometimes predictable and often times attack the same planet, making it easier to counter and slowly stack up your space units on that planet) theres a lack of info regarding the weaknesses of each unit, but its not much of an issue. with workshop becoming official, the longevity of this game will continue to last for decades. 10/10 classic, best star w...
