Story

After the death of his mother, Tomoya Okazaki—a guarded delinquent student at Hikarizaka High School—struggles to not only make sense of the abusive relationship he has with his alcoholic father, but also find meaning in his life. While on his way to class one morning, he meets a mystifying girl named Nagisa. She is a delinquent like him, but only because she is repeating her senior year, unlike the perpetually tardy Okazaki. From their brief encounter, Nagisa decides they should be friends, and enlists Tomoya's help to revive the school drama club. Not being busy in any way, he decides to join in. Along the way, the two make friends with many other students and try to find both solace and belonging in their endeavors.

CLANNAD is a deeply emotional visual novel that has earned its place as one of the most beloved and influential titles in the genre, blending heartfelt storytelling with rich character development and a memorable soundtrack. Developed by Key, it offers a unique narrative experience that explores themes of family, friendship, love, and personal growth through a branching storyline that can be both uplifting and heartrending. Its reputation stems from the game’s ability to create genuine emotional connections with players, making it much more than a typical dating sim or visual novel. The core appeal of CLANNAD lies in its narrative depth and the intricate weaving of its main story with a series of interconnected character arcs. Players step into the shoes of Tomoya Okazaki, a high school delinquent with a troubled past, who gradually finds purpose and connection through his relationships with a diverse cast of characters. The game is structured into two main parts: the school life po...

It took Me 4 years to finish Clannad there was ups and downs with it and even times where I needed a break because of how long The first part of story was but it was an amazing experience. However there was one big thing I didn't like about it which is collecting the light orbs to get the second part of the Clannad Afterstory one ever requires you to do a characters route before you can even get that specific light orb which was annoying having to do that route again just to get it but the message behind the light orbs was well executed but it can feel tedious to get at times. Now on to what I loved about Clannad which is Tomoyas journey of personal growth and realising that the people that he meets changes his perspective on life and to realise that Life can be Fun and it isn't all pointless and that the town that he grew up in isn't horrible as his mind concludes it to be but one big family that supports and helps each other and that helping people can make a difference even if it's...

Its a bit strange it uses the sounds/music from the anime of the story, but no sentences at all. I would say the anime is more entertaining than the game.

Clannad is a beautiful written story about Family. That's my answer when someone ask me what is Clannad. I laugh and cry while reading it. It makes me realize how important a family is, how far someone will go for their family, how beautiful family's bonding are, how definition of family is broader than you think. It's a lifetime experience. Just read it, savor it, and tell others to read it too. Hope my town, yours, and their residents always in happiness.... 10/10.

CLANNAD is genuinelly one of the most well known visual novels known and for good reason. Overflowing with content, a word count to rival some of the heftiest tomes of humanity, CLANNAD has a lot to it and thankfully, most of it is amazing. CLANNAD counts with several routes, all of them fully voiced (even though it's just in japanese, it takes SO much dubbing it's unreal), there are many characters to interact and bond with. I didn't finish the game, but I didn't have any bad routes on my time playing it. The writing aged surprisingly well and it's one of the best VNs I have played in a long while. A thing worth noting is that despite it being one of the best VNs of all time, not everything is for everyone. Me personally, I love visual novels, but I'm not a fan of requiring walkthroughs. And a SUBSTANTIAL amount of CRITICAL content of Clannad is locked behind a special route, which requires a bunch of specific requirements, including WHICH ORDER YOU PLAY THOSE ROUTES. That was a...
