STAR WARS™ Dark Forces (Classic, 1995)

It's Star Wars Doom!

Oldschool boomer shooter in the flavor of star wars. The sprites and weapon effects look decent for their time, but shooters have come a long way, and Dark forces doesn't offer anything standout on its own that would make me recommend it over its contemporaries.

absolutely fantastic old game! I played through it many times back in the day and it is great to come back to today with the ForceEngine update for a more modern feel.

What if Star wars played like Doom

An interesting "Doom Clone" at the time of release, it has plenty of ideas and embraces the Star Wars ascetic well enough. The weapon selection is not the best and the level design is often overly convoluted. But was as a good effort at the time of release and worth experiencing again if you are a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy.

If Doom demon and Vader had a fun night, this is what would pop out 9 months later.

I would recommend this game but not on Steam in that I played this game on PS1 and on the computer with a disk and I enjoyed playing it. However the Steam version don't have a lot of support for controllers which makes you not want to play the game. It states that the games isn't designed for controllers but it was. Steam need to make their version controller friendly.

My favorite Star Wars game of all time!
