With Blade Rush I wanted to make a classic arcade-style game with quick runs and tons of replayability, with the classic pick-up and play, easy to learn hard to master gameplay loop, and a ton of extra unlockable content to keep things fresh. I wanted anyone to be able to pick it up and have a good time, without needing to be good at these kinds of games. I hope you enjoy it!
The game looks really polished. I love ramming into enemies. Music and SFX fit the arcade style perfectly!
Full disclaimer : I play-tested this game on and off over the course of a few months before release and my actual play-time is not accurately reflected for some reason. That being said, onto the review!! Blade Rush is a challenging take on the twin-stick shooter genre that will test your reflexes and awareness as you blast and boost into enemies all while trying to stay alive (and avoid overheating your ship!) There’s tons of levels and boss levels. If you’re competitive, there’s also an online leader-board, so chase for that high score like the good old days at the arcade! To go along with the action of course the soundtrack is just as frantic, helping to keep you on your toes in the chaos. Bonus points as Blade Rush also runs amazingly on Steam Deck!
The visuals are acid, the gameplay is basically drunk driving, the music slaps and it's addictive like crack cocaine don't buy drugs, buy this instead. No need for a proper review. The first 2 hours are free. Try it - and if you don't end up liking it - refund it (you won't).
