A wonderful adventure game. Lucas Arts is what got me into gaming and this is a great update on the original.

sometimes you know some games by name or cover or so but you dont play them then after many years i did try this one and i didnt regret i did enjoy the story and comedy and adventure and ost etc... i did like that i can switch between the original classic one and the HD remaster i see many fans and positive reviews , i dont blame them <3

So this is what it's all about. I've just played it. I see where the magic is. This game is brilliant. I even think that the old version had nice graphics, but the remaster has its merits. There's so much to say... This is basically how an adventure should be designed. I figure it must've inspired many. The humor's brilliant. The 4th wall breaking is tasteful and moderate. The dialogues.... characters, world building.... The puzzles... I've had 1 or 2 remarks about them being unpredictable and unintuitive, but the guidance system makes things easy to a proper degree. I've been thinking about future game design and... Monkey Island had done 2-3 things that I've wanted future games to do. The writing is brilliant as well. Singular. Classic Lucas Arts in the best way possible.

This is a review about the Special Edition, not Monkey Island itself. The first Monkey Island is (mostly) a brilliant game. Let me start by saying this adds voice acting to the game, and it's amazing. Best part of this special edition. That said, it's the only really good part of this remaster. It has none of the features you'd expect from a remaster, such as hotspots highlights, a verb wheel or fast travel when double-clicking on the edges of a screen. There is no way to skip dialogue, UNLESS you switch to the original graphics. The new graphics also suck ass. Just stick to the original version, even though it lacks voice acting.

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY BOY!??? Goddamn the artstyle is absolutely ATROCIOUS in this remake. Thankfully you can switch back to the classic, but then it gets rid of the voiceover work. Anyways, its an adventure point n click game, so yeah. Fantastic main theme though.
